Re: Progressive volume reloading press for handgun?
Dillon 550B. Once you get it set up it will produce very accurate loads and you can crank'um out purty fast.

Re: Long Aussie outback adventure story
Great story and loved the pictures. It's a treat to see how hunting is done "down under" and your hunting terrain.

Re: 204 for yotes
predhunter,
My best to date has been 332 yards with the 39 BK. A guy I know shot and dropped one at 400 yards a couple weeks ago. I personally would feel confident on the killing power of the .204 at the 400 yard mark with the 39 or 40 grain bullets.

bullfrog,
Congrats on the coyote and thanks for sharing with pictures. You have some good looking country out there that us mid-westerners don't have.

Re: So far this season......
It was a strange three day season here in IL. We didn't hear many shots around on opening day or the next two either. A friend of ours was hunting in southern IL. and said they experienced the same thing down there. I talked to a co-worker over toward the east side of the state and he said there was...

So far this season......
So far this season Lucas got this doe with his bow. It was short tracking, she ran about 50 yards out onto a grassy hill side where we could pull the truck right up beside her. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v724/melvin54/P1010004-5.jpg Last Wed. I got out in one of my stands and after about 40 m...

Fall Shotgun Turkey
Last Saturday was opening day here in IL. for the Fall Shotgun Turkey Season that runs through tomorrow. Last Sat. morning I went out before day light and set up where the turkeys had been roosting. I didn't get out earlier in the week to verify this and they ended up roosted about 125 yards to my r...

Silverfox,
I didn't skin them out. I too, was surprised how well they looked this early in the year since we have been above normal temperature here all the way up till now.

Re: My first double
Singleshot,
No exit on the head shot, however, anywhere I pushed on the sides or top of it's head was mush. Sounded like very small rocks gritting against each other.
The long shot did exit. It left a hole a little smaller than a dime. The bullet destroyed both lungs.

My first double
I went out to a place this morning I haven't been to since last season. I got out there and set up well before first light and waited. After it got light enough, I started with some howls and then tried the rabbit squeal. To make a long story short, I didn't call anything in. This process lasted abo...

I would say you had a successful hunt even though you didn't get a deer. To enjoy natures beauty and the fresh air, you can't put a price on that. Thanks for sharing your story and the pictures are great too.

Re: Wrist Rockets
I remember when my brother and I were younger, our dad told us about when he was a kid they would use green grapes for "bullets". He also told us he didn't want us using our grapes because mom wanted them for making jelly. Ya... right! As soon as mom and dad left to go to town for grocerie...

Tell the young man congratulations and thanks for sharing your hunt. I like to see pictures of the places everyone hunts and their stories, it's better than reading them out of a magazine.

Re: "When the wind is in the East.........
Dave, You are correct on the location and welcome to the board. I've already been thinking about shooting prairie dogs next Spring. We may have a problem on scheduling our trip since Ethan will be graduating around that time, but I'm sure we will make it happen. Carl, I didn't do any calling. This e...
