Silverfox,
You have some awesome country out there to hunt. Did you know that I am your long lost son and willing to come home for a visit? I even have my own gun and ammo.

Re: First one for the New Year
Guys, It looks like the decoy is a 3-4 week delivery. I hope it gets here before the mating season's over. bullfrog, I didn't know there were any virgin hunting places around here. I do get to go back, the lady wants me to thin them out. I have to be selective when I hunt there due to wind directio...

Silverfox,
That is some beautiful country! I'm envious! I like that wide open country.

Re: First one for the New Year
steve , It's going to live in the house so it can watch over some non-hunting relatives while they try to sleep (ha, ha) when they come to visit. I've got one of these ordered for hunting. https://www.edgebyexpedite.com/home.php?cat=289 I saw this decoy in the new Cabela's catalog, but it's not on ...

First one for the New Year
I went out to a place yesterday I'd never hunted before. A lady that owned some land had complained to her neighbor about the coyotes around her place. She said her daughter had seen coyotes chasing a deer through their yard and it was almost a nightly event hearing them howling behind her house. Th...

Re: Muzzle loader video
bullfrog,
It left a hole about the size of a quarter taking out both lungs.
Dave,
It was out at the dairy farm where we saw the deer last Feb.

Muzzle loader video
Her is a video clip I took of Lucas shooting a coyote with his muzzle loader back in Feb 05. The temperature was in the single digits and a north wind in our face. We had the FoxPro set up about 50 yards out in front of us. I started off with a few howls and then started the FoxPro up with the jack ...

Muzzle Loader season
Dec. 7,8 and 9 was our muzzle loader season here in IL. and here came the fowl weather. The night before opening day, we had 3" of snow. You can see deer better with the snow on but it's a lot noisier walking. I'd rather not have snow as to crunch through the woods. Didn't see a thing the first...

Second Season
The IL. second firearms season was Nov. 29, 30, Dec. 1 and 2, Thursday-Friday. On Thursday morning, didn't see anything for the first couple hours. No shots around close and not many in the distant either. I decided I was going to try to make something happen so I headed out across an open field fro...

Re: Need a backup rifle.....any suggestions?
danny, I was a die hard Remington fan till I bought my first Savage with the Accu-Trigger. They are a great gun for the money and you can get them in a variety of models. However, I bought a CZ 527 Varmint in .204 and would not want to part with it. It's a handy carry gun and also a great bench gun...
