Re: Thanksgiving in spring.

bullfrog, Congratulations on your turkey! It sounds like you had a good time. I love the country you have there. I can only dream of hunting in country like that. Some of my best, most memorable hunts haven't yielded the biggest bird of biggest deer. That's why they call it hunting! Thanks for shar...

Re: Finally finished - my new custom 204

Rick, Nice looking gun you have there. Looks like you wouldn't have any trouble getting rid of it if you decided too! I noticed on one of your earlier replies you said the skippy shooting would be over by the end of June. I'm not familiar with ground squirrels at all. How come you can't shoot them ...

1st season, 1st day, 1st hour

Yesterday evening I went out to roost turkeys for this mornings hunt and got rained on, sleeted on and snowed on. What can I say, it's Illinois weather. I also wanted to find a place I could cross the creek in the daylight due to the heavy rains we've had lately and the creeks being up. I got back o...

Re: Spring turkey season

Not at all Glen. We have 5 consecutive seasons here in IL. I have first, which starts this Monday, and 5th season. My son has 2nd and 5th and my wife has 3rd season. We may not get to hunt here the 5th season because we will probably be turkey hunting and prairie dog shooting in Nebraska that weeken...

Close encounter coyote.

I went out to one of my favorite places yesterday morning well before daylight and set up where I had shot coyotes in the past. The temperature was 34 degrees, but the 20-25 mph north wind made it a lot colder. Just as it was getting light enough to see across the field, a doe came into the field at...

Re: An 8 Coyote weekend

First off Jeremy, welcome to the board. There is a wealth of info on this board from people with first hand experience that are willing to share with you so ask and post away. If your 12FV shoots like mine you'll be very pleased with it. I put a B&C Duramaxx stock on mine purchased from Midway w...

An 8 Coyote weekend

I had an unbelievable past weekend and wanted to share it with all of you. It's long so bear with me. I took last Friday off to take care of some business and during the day we got a good 3” of snow. When I got home around 3:30 the skies had cleared and I thought I would go out and see if I co...

Re: Definition of Willpower :)

Shortly after my wife and I got married, I told her I was going to buy another rifle. She said " What do you need another gun for? Can't you use the same ones you already have"? I asked her why she had so many dress's and she said they are for various occasions and she didn't want to wear ...

Re: Dave's IL visit

DarkNight, It's a mix. It depends on where I go and how much time I want to spend at one place. Most of my hunting is done by myself so I let the area and wind conditions decide when I get there. If I have a big open area where I can catch one sneaking in across a field from a brushy draw I may do h...

Dave's IL visit

On Feb. 7th, Thursday, our friend Dave from Neb. drove 9+ hours to come to IL. to do some coyote hunting with Lucas and I. The next morning we went to a place where a farmers cow had gotten out on him and I found her dead near some hay bales a few weeks before. Lucas had to work so Dave and I headed...

Here's a scary thought

1. Hillary wins the Democratic Party nomination for President of the United States. 2. Naturally, she wants to choose as her running mate someone with a lot of knowledge and experience in government and foreign affairs, someone who is a seasoned campaigner who could bring a lot of strength to the ti...
