Finally on the last day.....

Last Monday was our first of five turkey season's here in the northern zone of IL. I've been going out on the weekends prior to then to scout for turkeys only to find they weren't in the areas like they had been in previous years or at least not as many. Last Sunday morning I watched a bottom to see...

A good morning

This morning I went out for the soul purpose of watching and listening for turkeys before our first season starts on the 13th. I made up my mind I wasn't going to do any calling for coyotes but if one gave me a decent shot I was going to take it. I wanted to get out before first light but spent too ...

Re: Song Dog finally gets out

Jason,

That is a pretty coyote. Glad you could finally have the time to get out and shoot a nice coyote this time.

Re: Ground Hogs Can you eat em?

I've ate them. Back in the 70's when we had groundhogs I would shoot the young ones along in August and cook'um on the grill. The young ones are easier to skin and are more tender. They are vegetarians, cleaner than a chicken or a regular hog. I thought they tasted more like chicken than pork though.

Congatulations on your coyote! You're right on the scenery too!

Go give that new .204 a workout and share your hunts with us, with pictures. We all like to see other hunters country and welcome to the board.

Butt Whoppin' and called 3

Dennis, a friend of mine in Colorado, asked me if I would post his hunt for him here on the board. Here is his story in his words. Looks like they had a very interesting hunt. Part 1: My buddy TR comes down from the big city a few times each winter to play with the local coyotes. We have had a fair ...

Re: Off the deck, with mange.

That's a sad looking coyote. I hope their aren't any others out there but the way we've been seeing them this year, there probably are more. You just stopped this one from some serious suffering down the road.

Re: Cold Coyote Calling - Advise Please

I read an article once where an expert said that deer can't tell the difference between human or other urine according to the test he conducted. I've also read where some deer hunters will pee in a deer scrape or just off the trail before they get in their stand. They said the deer will stop and sme...

Re: Got this one Sunday morning.....

Keith,

Even if it is just a coyote, you did this one a favor for putting a quick ending to an otherwise slow, painful death. I wonder what PETA would say if they came across an animal in this condition?

Dave, I hope you can come out with your family for a visit, that would be great. I'm sure Lucas, Jason and I can find a place or two to call a coyote. Let me know when and we'll plan a cookout and have some family fun.

surfclod, I like your dad's analogy of the picture. I can relate to that. Rick, Don't worry about her getting "Disneyfied", her dad and I will take care of that department. Racr350, I actually was thinking about what gun should be her first one while in the waiting room. Ray P, They are a...

A Great day!

This morning I would normally be sitting out somewhere around first light set up for calling coyotes. Not the case this morning. My son Lucas, called yesterday morning and said that he and his wife Brandi were headed for the hospital, she was going into labor so my wife and I went to the hospital to...

Re: Big female

Rick,

When I get the 50's shot up that I already have loaded, I'm going to the 55's since I'm shooting 50's in my 22-250 and 39's in my .204's.
