Crow, but no coyote

I went out coyote hunting last week end after we had had about an inch of snow to a creek bottom. I haven't done much coyote hunting yet but wanted to get out and see if I could get one to come to the call. I sat the FoxPro up next to a wooded hillside and then I sat across the field about a hundred...

So far this season....

Deer season this year has been a little slower than past years. We didn’t see as many deer as we usually do but did manage to get a few. My son Lucas got a new bow and was wanting to get it broke in back in Oct. so he shot a button buck. He made a nice 43 yard shot on it out of my pop up blin...

Re: H4895 for 204?

Ethan,

I'm using Hornady brass for the 32's and Winchester brass for the 39's. My loads are not compressed and are seated out as far as the CZ clips will allow and still function.

Re: H4895 for 204?

Steve, I'm shooting 28.0 grains of H-4895 behind the 39's and not having any problems with them. This load is over maximum. . However, here is a link to the experiment with this load through all three of my 204's. I also use 29.0 grains of H-4895 behind the 32 grain V-MAX's in my Savage M12VLP. Agai...

Rick in Oregon,

Why don't you just go international? You could be the president and get to travel to all the chapters, all expense paid, and hunt all over the world, all year long!!!
I'd be more than willing to go along and take pictures for you (hint, hint).

Coyote 10/3/09

This is the first weekend of our Deer bow hunting season but I chose to go coyote calling instead of bow hunting. It was a cool, windy morning around 51*F before day light as I headed out to a creek bottom I've seen and shot coyotes before. I made my way through a cow pasture to a point that overloo...

Re: UUUURRRRGGGHHHH!

Heck, why not guys, I can get a better price on volume buying and I'll get another one too, then we'll all be happy. Everyone needs another gun or two in the same caliber, right? I asked my wife once why she had to have so many dresses and she said she needed them for different occasions. Soooo, whe...

Re: Squirrel hunting 8/2/09

Captqc, I pulled a big "dummy" back when I was a kid. I came across a nest like this in my early years of squirrel hunting and thought I would shoot one of these nest to see what would happen. I had my .22 and the first shot really stirred them up so I shot again and they came right at me...

Re: Past weekend outing. (Plenty of pics)

Neat looking country up there. Looks like you've got your gun dialed in pretty good too. Nice write up and good pictures, makes it easier on the imagination with pictures.

Maybe the weather will change and you'll get in one more hunt before they go down. Thanks for sharing your adventure.

RIO,

Thanks for sharing your hunt with us. It's always interesting to see pictures from the west side of this country. Keep'um coming, always a good story.

Squirrel hunting 8/2/09

Last Saturday, the 1st, was opening day for squirrel season here in my neck of the woods. I couldn’t go though, because I had to go up to Bloomington to help move my daughter into a bigger apartment. Sunday morning was my morning to go and it was 58* on my truck thermometer as I was driving o...

SF,

Thanks for taking us along on your hunt and the country up there is awesome. I would like to take a long walk up there to to experience the openess and vastness of it. We don't have anything like that around here. Thanks for shaing your hunt and with pictures.

Re: Minnesota coyotes audio.

That's pretty cool, it's good to hear coyotes "talk" in their natural state. I've listened to it several times and going to try and mimic them the next time I go out calling. Thanks for sharing. Isn't it great to get out and hear them that close without them knowing you are there, it's lik...
