Re: 2-12-10 Coyote

Good going, Jason. Were you using distress or howls? It seems to me they are responding better to howls right now than distress with this being the mating season.

Re: My first double

Congratulation on your double and being first blood with your gun. That's one grand way to initiate it. Sure gives you confidence in your gun, doesn't it?

Just goes to show that the coyotes will come in bad weather too. Too bad we have to go to work with this snow on instead of hunting!

A double this afternoon

This afternoon I went out to the place I had shot a coyote a while back and the last three times since I've been there haven't had any luck. Everytime, just before dark, the coyotes would start howling about half a mile farther up the creek bottom. This time I decided I would take the 3/4 mile hike ...

From the "deck" crow

This morning was a frosty 22 degrees and calm. A good morning to go coyote hunting I thought. We still have some snow on the ground that has melted, refroze, melted and refroze several times. Walking out to hunt this morning was like walking on bubble wrap. I heard a vehicle driving on a road over h...

Another "deck" coyote

Today my wife and I were going to visit her parents about two and a half hours away so I didn't go hunting but kept checking my field for any coyotes. Shortly after 7:00 I stepped out on the deck to go get the car out when I looked out into my field to the south and saw a coyote about 80 yards out i...

Re: Lil' Frustrated

It happens Jason. If one hunts very much, it's bound to happen sometime.

I was wondering, why didn't you crawl down in there with that injured coyote and drag him out? heh, heh.

That's a very pretty coated coyote and a very pretty little girl! Congratulations on both.

Can you believe it?

I've been getting up on the weekends and going out hunting in the predawn hours in cold, fog and snow and my youngest son, Ethan, comes home from college and shoots a coyote from the back yard in the middle of the afternoon! I had just finished changing the oil in my car and backed it out of the sho...

Re: Il 01 30 dog

Atta boy Clint, at least someone is getting them to come to the call. I had another dry run this morning. Look's like dad's little .222 will still do the job!

Cabela's Tactical Scopes

I saw these scopes while surfing Cabela's website. Has anyone ever used one of these scopes and if so, how accurate are they? What about their quality for the money? http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/pod/standard-pod-wrapped.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/pod-link.jsp_A&_DAV=Mai...

Re: 1/22/09 coyote

RowdyYates, I don't use the set trigger when I'm hunting. I have all of my rifles set at 2.5 lbs so they are the same if I decide to take a different gun the next time. The set trigger on both of my CZ's are set at 8 ounces. A little too lite for me on a hunting gun. You are correct on the scope. I...

1/22/09 coyote

This afternoon was overcast and a light fog where I went to see if I could call up a coyote. We’ve had about five days and nights with fog and warm temperatures. The frost has come out of the ground and it’s really wet and soggy out. I walked about a quarter of a mile back to a field I...

Re: One more X-mas dog

Gube,

You may want to consider getting a patent on your "meatsicle". I think you've got something there!
