Re: 1st shoot, NOT so flat trajectory ?!
In my 700 Rem. VLS the 32 gr. Varmageddon is the most accurate bullet. I've shot three shot groups as small as .169 with it. The 39 gr. shot around 3/4' +/-. I had a 39 gr. sierra splash on a badger at about 200 yds. and a friend had one splash on a coyote so we pretty much just use them for ground ...

Re: Idaho badgers
Hey RIO, Good job on the badger. I kinda lost faith in the 39 gr. Sierra. I had one splash on a badger at about 200yds. and it got down a hole. A buddy had one splash on a coyote and it got away so, we pretty much just use them on whistle pigs and rockchucks. Also the 32 gr. Nosler Varmageddon was m...

Re: 1st shoot, NOT so flat trajectory ?!
In my opinion 3" at 100 yds. is too high for varmint cartridges. I zeroed mine 1" high at 100 yds. and that works real well. I have no problem hitting badhers at 300 yds. I've shot groups as small as .169 at 100 yds. but never shot any groups farther than that. Bob

Idaho badgers
We've been shooting a few badgers here in so.west Idaho. That's about all there is to shoot/hunt around here this time of year. I did see two big fat rockchucks out in the middle of a horse pasture yesterday. It was 1:30 p.m. amd 90 degrees. I was kinda surprised to see them. I can't get photo bucke...

Re: 204 brass
The Hornady brass I have is from factory loaded ammo and the primer pockets are to deep. I won't use Hornady brass again. I have no problem with the Rem. or Win. brass that I have.

Re: 32gr - V-Max vs Varmagrddon
Yeah, to me it's a lot of fun working up different loads with different bullets and finding what shoots best in your gun. Before I tried the 32 gr. Varmageddon I used mostly the 40 gr. V-max. I was getting around 3/4" +/- with 30 gr. BLC(2). 39 gr. Sierra's shot about the same as 40 gr. V-max i...

Re: 32gr - V-Max vs Varmagrddon
The 32 gr. v-max was accurate in my .204 but the Varmageddon was super accurate. With 28 gr. BLC(2) I got three shot groups that measured as small as .169. That's not a hot load but I always work my way up. I've shot up to 30 gr. with no signs of high pressure. I've had real good luck with BLC(2) in...

Re: Need a little help
I don't know exactly what happened. I was using a 30 gr. charge of BLC(2) and that fills it to the shoulder so I know it couldn't have been a double charge. the round right before it fired perfect. The only thing I can figure is that I threw a light load and didn't notice it. The trigger has been li...

Need a little help
I managed to wreck the bolt on my 700 Rem. VLS .204., don't know if the chamber/barrel is damaged or not. I've been told it was probably a detonation. I took it to two gunsmiths and they didn't want to touch it. They both said to contact Remington and send it to them. Anyway I need to know if any of...

Re: 32gr Nosler varmageddon
I have a Rem. 700 VLS. I loaded the 32 gr. Varmageddon with BLC(2) anjd it's the most accurate load I've ever shot in it. I started at 28 gr. and worked up to 30 gr. in .5 gr. increments. At 29 gr. I shot a .169 three shot group. The biggest group was .721. The only thing I've killed with it was a b...

Re: 20 cal bullet pullers
I've got an old Herter's collet type bullet puller that I've had for about 45 years. The RCBS collets fit and work in it. I haven't had any problems pulling bullets and re-using them. Sometimes it leaves a ring around them but I haven't found any problem with that, usually just as accurate as before...

Re: 39SBK vs 32Vmax FPS results
I have a very accurate Rem. VLS and I was thinking about having the barrel fluted. Two different gunsmiths said they wouldn't guarantee that the accuracy wouldn't change after fluting.

Re: Aussie! Aussie! Aussie!
Hey Boomer 84, Nice looking rifle and good shooting on the foxes. What do you think of that 32 gr. Varmageddon? I have a Rem. 700, VLS and that's the most accurate bullet I've shot in it. Using BLC(2) powder, Rem. 7 1/2 primers, I shot a .169" group with it. We have a few foxes here but not lik...

Re: 39SBK vs 32Vmax FPS results
From what I've been told, when you shorten a barrel, add flutes or change the structure in any other way it changes the harmonics. Sometimes for the good, sometimes for the bad. If you have a barrel that is already shooting good, be careful about changing it in any way.

Re: Remington 700 VLS 204
Those "bumps" are pressure points but from what I've read and been told, most guns shoot better without them. I used a dremel to do most of the sanding then sand paper to finish. Like RIO said, go slow and keep checking, I used the dollar bill to check. Mine shot better when I was finished.
