Re: It's almost time.......
Prarie dogs are fun. The only thing I've shot them with is 218 Bee but it works good on them. There are some Columbian ground squirrels here in Idaho. They are about as tall as prarie dogs but maybe a little skinnier. All varmints are fun to shoot..

Re: It's almost time.......
I took my 218 Bee out on Tuesday and gave a few flying lessons. Not a lot of them out yet but I shot eight or ten. Lot's of fun after laying around sick all winter.

Re: It's almost time.......
They are coming out here in Idaho. I talked to a guy the other day that has shot a few already. It's still kind of muddy and sloppy out there though. Not a bad winter here either, hardly any snow but we have had some rain. Should be a good season, I'm ready.

Re: Load Development
They were the tipped Varmageddons that I used. Worked up to a maximum of 30 gr. of BLC(2) but my best accuracy was at 28.5 gr.

Re: Load Development
Don't get disappointed yet. That 32 gr. Varmageddon was the most accurate in my 700 Rem. VLS. Shot a.169 group with BLC(2). Every gun is different. Keep testing to find the best load in your gun, it may not be anything like anybody else's. Have fun and good luck.

Sorry, hit a wrong key. That's supposed to be 40 gr. V-Max.

http://i1025.photobucket.com/albums/y318/broper1520/26.6%20lbs.%20FKD.jpg Trying to post picture for first time, hope it works right. A buddy and I went calling last Monday, Halloween day. This one came in after about 20 minutes. I shot it at about 40 yds. with my Rem. 700 SPS .204 with 49 gr. V-Ma...

Re: Red Fox with 32gr Vmax
mvk, I don't see why 32 gr. wouldn't work just fine on fox. If you're having good luck and killing good wit them then "if it aint broke, don' fix it". I've shot quite a few badgers with 32 gr. Varmageddons and it puts them down DRT. They are quite a bit tougher than a fox. I know a lot of ...

Re: Groundhog crawl aways with .204..
Just thought I'd mention, there seems to be a lot of badgers in So. West Idaho this year. So far I've killed seven from around 11 lbs. to over 25 lbs. with my Rem. 700 SPS .204. All of them were shot in the neck or chest, one shot kills, DRT. 40 gr. Hornady V-Max. It really puts the smack down on th...

Re: 270win powder and bullet combo
H4831 and 130 gr. bullet, I use it for everything including elk. Chronographs 3050 fps in my 22" Rem. 700. Works in just about any .270. Of course, start low and work up. I've used up to 62 gr. without any pressure signs but don't get much more velocity so settled on 60 gr.

Re: Anyone still shooting a 222?
I have a Sako Rhiimaki heavy barrel that I shoot quite often. It's a nice gun and super accurate but heavy to pack around very far. i have chronographed it along side a .223 and there's only about 100 fps difference.

Re: Fighting BLM in Idaho
I don't think it matters if it's a contest or there is prizes. What matters is that it is public land. It does not belong to the BLM. If they get away with this, next thing they'll be coming up with some phony reason to make us get a permit to deer hunt on BLM. We are waiting to hear from our repres...

Fighting BLM in Idaho
Hi Everyone, My name is Bob Roper, I'm a member of the Idaho Varmint Hunters club. I post on here from time to time but mostly I lurk. I would like to make everyone aware of a bad situation that's happening here in Idaho right now. We have recieved a letter from the BLM saying that beginning the fir...
