Re: Savage Mako .204

Ken,
I would not use the CCI 400's on the 204. They are a very thin primer and under a lot of pressure they will pierce.

I would stick with the CCI 450's, CCI BR4's, REM 71/2BR, or FED 205M's.

Re: To the lands

My OAL length is 2.387. This shoots very good in my gun and fits in the Mag.
If I were to go all the way to the lands it would be 2.407

Re: what primer to use

I would stay away from the 400's. You can use the 205M's, CCI 450 Magnum, CCI BR4 or Remington 71/2 BR's

Re: where to go from here

You need to start with checking the torque on your stock bolts and scope bolts. Scope bolts should be set between 15-20 inch pounds Stock bolts on non-pillar bedded stock 25-30 inch pounds Stock bolts on Pillar bedded stock 65 inch pounds try this and see if it helps. Any micro torque wrench should ...

Re: Savage Mako .204

jo,
I had read on one of your other post that all you need is a savage action and you can pretty much build your own gun. I understand that the barrels just screw on but how do you get the head spacing?

Re: Savage Mako .204

Chief Never tried M7 products so I cannot comment on thier effectiveness or use. Most folks use a mild solvent like Hoppes or Shooters Choice and a bronze brush to attack the carbon first. Once most or all of the carbon has been removed we then switch to a copper remover. Most copper removers do no...

Re: Savage Mako .204

You'll just have to figure out what works in your rifle. May only like the 32gr BK and not the 32gr V-Max. My Savage will shoot 32gr BK's, 32gr BK's, 39gr BK's, 40 gr V-Max's, and 40gr Bergers, but will NOT SHOOT 40 GR NOSLERS!!!! Go figure..... If you would like maybe we could trade a few bullets ...
