Re: A 1911 project (Modem warning, photo heavy)

Bill, Nice work! How soon can I send my Kimber Gold Combat to you for a bobtail job? :D Gary Thank you for the complement. I know you are joking about me bobtailing your pistol, but. . . If you decide to do the bobtail at some point, I will loan you the Ed Brown jig and a #2 Center drill. It's a pr...

A 1911 project (Modem warning, photo heavy)

Since this section doesn't get a lot of action, I thought I might add a bit. A while back, I noticed a new Springfield Champion at a gun show and bought it. http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m125/mhinagoya/First.jpg As soon as I got the gun home, I contacted Brownells Gunsmith Supply and ordered an...

Re: Problems with BRAND NEW KIMBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rick, You and the rest of the guys humble me. Even though I am on the other side of the international date line at the moment, this board is one of the things that helps me to feel home isn't so far away. I really don't have much to offer, as my job often takes me to foreign countries. I don't even ...

Re: Problems with BRAND NEW KIMBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are most welcome. The guys here are more like family than just a bunch of people on an internet board. I did no more for you than has been done for me. My Kimber Ultra is my carry gun, along with a Springfield Champion that I bobtailed. I prefer the 1911 over any other centerfire hand gun I have...

Re: Problems with BRAND NEW KIMBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not too uncommon an issue and one that is very easy to correct. Since most of these are packed with polishing compound when you get them, they tend to hang. Take a good look at this picture and the part that looks like an allen screw. http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m125/mhinagoya/MagRelease.jpg ...

Re: OT: Computer Question for the experts out there.....

Silverfox- No problemo! :D BillC- I built my last 2 machines myself also. My next one will be a rockin' quad core. Time to admit I'm something of a geek. My machine is a Q6600 (G0 stepping) running at 3.7 ghz under water. 1 TB of hard drives, 6 gig of ram running XP 64 OS. Fuzion makes a good water...

Re: Barrel break in

Hey Bill C, I have 3 of those nikon's I love'em great scope for the money. I have so many rifles I just can't afford to spend 800.00 on each one so I had to compromise, but to tell you the truth I like them better than my vxIII 6.5x20x50 3 for the price of one, makes it an easy choice when your on ...

Re: Barrel break in

To address the original question: I have a new CZ 527 and had decided to follow Speedy Gonzales' recommendation. After starting the break-in (shoot 1 and clean, shoot 3 and clean, etc.) I have not yet had any jacket fouling and the powder fouling has been a 'non issue' (Reloader 10X). At this point,...

Check your PMs again. It took me a little longer than I thought it would.
I wrote you a 'step by step' guide. I also included my phone number if you have problems.

Re: Seeking adult supervision

Here's an interesting thread from Predator Masters on barrel break in. Take it for what is worth. Dave http://www.predatormastersforums.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=53058239&page=1&fpart=1&vc=1&nt=2 Greystone, thank you. I actually read that thread, the threads it li...

Re: Seeking adult supervision

With the WS2, I don't think you need to use naked bullets. My reason, most brands of newly manufactured bullets seem soft. You are polishing the bore and filling when breaking in a rifle. Would you tell wrzwaldo to email or pm me??? wrzwaldo lives very close to me, but I don't know the exact addres...

Re: Seeking adult supervision

Everything I've read, says to use naked bullets for break-in. It sounds like you'll have some fun when you get ready to get after it. If it doesn't shoot the 40s worth a hoot, don't get too excited, LOTS of rifles are indifferent towards that bullet. Yours probably will be, too. My CZ likes bullets...

Re: Seeking adult supervision

I have a new CZ 452 You probably meant 527? You have pretty much everything needed in your list. Do you have a powder trickler? I can recommend this one. Have used RCBS but this Lyman model is really smooth and I like it's adjustable for drop tube length and height. Might want something to deburr a...
