Re: To Flute? Or Not To Flute?

I have a remington 700 SPS. Its a laminated wood stock from Boyds that I'll be bedding (if the freakin thing ever gets here!) So far I have only been able to shoot at paper at 100 yards (with my original synthetic stock), and let me tell ya if its not shooting in the same hole every time YOU n...

Re: Bushnell vs Leupold vs Nikon

Ok, I have done quite a bit of looking, and I think I am going to rule out leupold, just too expensive. Here's what I have narrowed it down to (mind you, I still have to go to the local gun store and see what actually is the best) http://www.swfa.com/pc-8768-2201-nikon-4-16x42-monarch-riflescope.asp...

Bushnell vs Leupold vs Nikon

I need to buy a new scope for an old Winchester model 88 in .308. I have a VX-I 4-12 on my .204 now, it has never given me any sign of trouble and is plenty clear for me. I am thinking I will replace the scope on the .204 and put it on the .308. Anywho I am trying to stick in the 350 dollar range fo...

Re: To Flute? Or Not To Flute?

I know pretty well what I'm doing as is, by the time the acraglass gel gets here I will be good to go. I know what your saying though, I have learned the hard way not to assume how things like this work a few times over. Thanks for all your help! I'll get pictures up when my new stock is glass bedde...

Re: To Flute? Or Not To Flute?

Ok so first I need to take off my trigger assembly and magazine-box-thing. Tape some of the action and stock off so no goo gets out of hand. Sand a little bit of my stock away as to let the acraglass goo grab onto it, then throw my stock in a vice, fill it with the goo, spray the release agent on my...

Re: To Flute? Or Not To Flute?

Well, that answer surprised me a little bit! haha! You kinda lost me when you started talking about lugs.. I am pretty darn sure I can tackle the bedding myself, would you mind throwing down your method?

Thanks to everyone who has been helping me, I appreciate your advice and patience!

Re: To Flute? Or Not To Flute?

Ok, I am thinking I'll just take the "Not broken don't fix it" path here. I don't think it's very necessary for the shooting I do and don't want to risk anything. While I have everyone's attention I have another question. My rifle shoots great, IMHO there isn't very much room for improveme...

Re: To Flute? Or Not To Flute?

I like chevy you like ford. hehe, funny you should say that my last name is Ford! I read somewhere that the closer the outside of your barrel is to the rifling the faster it will cool off. the heat has less distance to travel to get to the cooler outside air. For the most part I just really l...

To Flute? Or Not To Flute?

Hey guys, I was wandering around the internet aimlessly (as usual) when I stumbled upon a gunsmithing site that does a TON of fluting work. Here is the link if anyone wants to check it out. http://www.kampfeldcustom.com Anywho, I figured since its the holidays I would have a few extra dollars to bur...

Re: Coyote Help

Sounds pretty good, I have a little rabbit squealer that should get the job done. I have the whole face-mask thing all ready to go from goose hunting the past few years with my dad. (he's currently doing some time so I have adopted you all as my new hunting guru..) You said to throw in some bird cal...

Coyote Help

Hello everyone, I am fairly new to the whole hunting / shooing scene and was wondering if someone could throw out a coyote hunting routine of some sort. I have never tried hunting coyote but I have seen a few of them roaming around and that .204 I bought for groundhogs is getting antsy. I have basic...

Re: Remington 700 Aftermarket Trigger?

Well, I would certainly say a Jewell, due to the fact that it is more expensive. and in today's world you get what you pay for, with very few exceptions. But as others have said right here on this page you wont notice a difference in the two. I have not seen much negative response to the Timneys but...
