New Scope
I need to buy a new scope for my 204 Ruger. I have a VX-I from Leupold on it now and I am very very pleased with it. I have roughly 450 dollars to spend, I want something in 12-16x. Most importantly I want something of decent quality, I know 450 dollars isn't much... but that's all I got. I previous...

Re: I need some ideas
That is exactly where the scratches are coming from! I don't have too many tools here so I just used a file to get it roughly the shape I wanted and smoothed it down with some sandpaper wrapped around a pencil. Problem solved.

Re: I need some ideas
Lenard, I know this is kind of bouncing off topic.. again.. I think I may have a solution to the rough action problem! (key word being MAY!) I only say this because I was able to make my action smooth as silk today! First I took my bolt apart and cleaned it out with a little wire brush and some wate...

Re: I need some ideas
Jo, I would have to say that the rifling is rather abstract, but at the same time it is there. I put a flashlight at the end of my barrel and looked down the other side. At a strait on view you can just see some little swirls in there, but if you tilt your head off center a bit some nice rifling is ...

Re: I need some ideas
Lenard, Just a few posts up I asked you how smooth your action was. Today I took apart my bolt and cleaned it. There was a LOT of crap in there and the action is way smoother now. I know very well I haven't shot over 100 rounds out of my .204 either. Us having the same rifle, you may want to give th...

Hey everybody, I'm Graham. I am 15, and I live in northeastern Ohio. Bought my first rifle last spring, (Rem 700 SPS in .204) and decided I'd join this forum so I could ask questions and advice from all you guys! I play hockey and like to hunt groundhogs... yup.. that's about it. ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Re: I need some ideas
One more for that ruling.. But I have to admit, mine shot great. Never had any problems with it other than the way it looked... Check out http://www.stockysstocks.com/servlet/the-REM-700-CDL-LIQUIDATION/Categories if you're interested in buying something else. They have some nice walnut stocks that ...

Re: I need some ideas
How smooth is the action on your 700? Mine is alright without any cartridges in it, but things get kinda rough when you add ammo. Do I just need to shoot it more or is something wrong.. or I am just being picky..

Re: I need some ideas
Howdy Lenard, I have the exact same rifle you do, and it cuts holes for me at 100 yards. I am using 40 grain v-max bullets from Hornady (Not handloads). I haven't ever tried anything else because these shoot so well for me! I just bought a stock from Boyd's and received it yesterday. If I am still g...

Re: MY NEW STOCK!!
It's their laminated pepper wood. I'm not sure if you want the same style as I have, but if you do.. be ready for a treasure hunt. Everyone was out of that style, but I found one eventually! Boyd's makes less of them because they make more of a profit from the thumb hole stocks.

Another vote for Harris. I have been using my dad's for a year or two and they are ancient! But still work wonderfully
Wow Rick! That is some beautiful landscape you hunt on there!

Remington 700 Bolt Release
My Remington is a wonderful gun and I enjoy shooting it. But there is just this one problem! The bolt release never works! it has worked before, before I had a gunsmith do some trigger work. The problem is there is a pin-type-thing that you push up on (its by the trigger) and it contacts a lever tha...

Re: B&L 6-24 w/target knobs
I THINK that Bushnell bought B&L in 2000. (if I remember right) ... and that's about all I can help with! haha
Just figured I'd let you know what I do! .. hopefully that helped you in some way!

Re: Bushnell vs Leupold vs Nikon
Ok, I think am going to go with Bushnell. I have a leupold VX-I now, and I really like it! some people say its not clear and all that, but I see through it wonderfully. That being said, I don't really want to spend every last penny I have on a scope I wont see the difference in. I got a chance to co...
