Re: I need some ideas
Graham, I also disassembled the bolt on my 700 to check it out. Mine was clean as could be with no cosmoline or crud. Buying the Remington has been like working on some of the foreign guns that do not use good quality control. There are so many places that need improvement I cannot even begin to tal...

Re: I need some ideas
Graham, did the brass get scratched when you loaded the cartridge thru the magazine? The reason I ask, I noticed I was getting some lateral scratches on my brass and I bet the magazine was the reason why. I will have to check that out on mine. Hopefully, the stock will be here by next week and I am ...

Re: I need some ideas
Jo, with a good light, you can clearly see the rifleings. I don't now if Remington screwed up with my stock, but the design is surely not being used on high recoil guns as accuracy would be lacking. Is your friends 308 the plastic stock model? I would hope they are using a more substantial stock for...

Re: I need some ideas
Jo, I took my dremel and carved some dovetail grooves into the recoil part of the stock. The glass has held well, as I treated the tang the same. This gun has done the same thing, although it quit for a few rounds. I get two holes cutting one another, and another will be from 1"-1 1/4"out ...

Re: I need some ideas
Thanks guys. This stock was not right from the beginning, not having full contact with the recoil lug and high on one side of the rear tang. I just ordered a Hogue, pillar bedded stock. I just want to get this over with as there is nothing I hate worst than a gun that won't shoot.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Re: I need some ideas
Glen thanks, it is a BDL with the plastic stock. I will readily admit it is junk, the stock that is.

Re: I need some ideas
Wiings, it is a long way from smooth. I sure wish I had not bought this gun. Since confidence is paramont in shooting, this one is just an aggrevation to me. My 223 and 243 are superbly accurate and I am just not used to the inaccuracy of this gun. Maybe I should take my losses and sell the gun. :do...

Re: I need some ideas
Glad to hear yours is shooting like they are supposed to. Yup, the bullets are the first thing that comes to mind as I have eliminated other causes that I am familiar with. I just might go buy a box of 40 grain V max and see if they do ok. I am hoping someone else has some ideas or has had similar e...

I need some ideas
A couple of months ago, I purchased a 700 in 204 in stainless and a composite stock. I have been attempting to get it to group. I glassed the action and a pad in front of the action. When I use a dial indicator and loosen and tighten the guard screws, I get only .002 of movement. I have tried 32 V m...

B&L 6-24 w/target knobs
I bought this scope used most likely 15 years ago. Anyone have any idea when this was made. It closely resembles the Bushnells and for a while, thought it might have been made after Bushnell bought B&L. By the way, it is an excellent scope and is mounted on a HB 243 that is super accurate. I wou...

Re: My FN SPR's Bedding......
Danny, I will not hold myself out as an expert, I have been accuracy bedding guns for some 30 years. Sometimes the glassing jobs do not look too hot, but are perfectly adequate. It appears from the photo, that the main anchor point is the flat where the rear screw comes thru and the sides only provi...

Midsouth's varmint nightmare bullets
I have to assume that the above bullets are seconds. Couple of questions, are those made by american companies and how do they shoot compared to Hornady bullets in 204 and 223?

Re: 270 Ruger M77 I could use some of your pet loads for deer.
I don't know how much this will help, but I have a 77 that is first year production. I fought it for a number of years and finally found 4350 with the 130 gr. Sierra and the 140 grain Hornady groups under an inch. H 4831 shot groups anywhere from 1 1/4 -1 1/2" at 100 yards. Good enough for the ...

Re: 243 varmint loads
Gube, I only shoot the 243 at the longer ranges. My usual is a sako with a douglas barrel in 223. I actually have a Mini Mauser in 223 also. I just bought a 204 in stainless with standard barrel in 700 Remington. I have been quite disappointed in it as it was shooting about 1 1/4" groups. After...
