Re: How many reloads!

I threw away my last batch at 25+ reloads. (Nosler) The only reason I junked them is I clean my primer pockets with a uniformer and that seems to remove just a smidge of brass everytime with warm loads. I was afraid the webs were getting thin in the pocket area. I FL size every time bumping .001- .0...

Re: My bolt won't close!

Yep I'll bet your using a standard RCBS seater die. It has a built in roll crimp. Set it to contact the shellholder and you'll bulge the body just under the shoulders. Place brass in shellholder, raise ram. Screw in the seater until you feel it hit the brass. Now back out the seater 1/2 -3/4 turn an...

Re: Lateral stringing of groups

I found that the bullets seated to 2.312OAL strung out laterally at the range today. I had the same load seated to 2.325OAL and that brought them together to a half inch! These were 24.5 grains of Reloader10. The 25 grain loads performed well at 2.312OAL sub 4's! ....go figure. Looks like I will st...

Re: Strange occurance at the range

'Like the time I loaded 50 rounds... before seating primers. Arhhh actually I did that just last weekend with the 30 BR. Only 16 rds tho. Umnn So the charge weights were a little light but the velocity data was still useful. Never said I was'nt gonna lose focus again. I know better than that....

Re: Clean burning 204 load?

I am ready to reload and am starting with Win. brass, Fed 205M primers, 39gr Sierras and 10X powder. The 10x is a popular powder on this site, but I read a post saying it was the dirtiest powder...not good for extended shooting. Any opinions/suggestions? Factory barrel? Clean is not always best. Be...

Re: Strange occurance at the range

Bow, I guess but when the solution pointed out my own carelessness it kind of takes you down a peg. It's a good lesson though. No matter how practiced at reloading you are, you can not just go through the motions. You lose focus for a minute and mistakes can happen. Fortunately mine was a small one...

Re: Strange occurance at the range

Most of the rounds were the CFE223, which is supposed to eliminate carbon build up. I normally shoot at that many rounds, switching back and forth between different powders, and have never had anything similar happen. I looked through the barrel after it happen and looked clean. CFE is supposed to ...

Re: hand loads vs factory loads for accuracy

There were no reloading components when I got my 204. So it was all factory loads for the 1st summer. Mine shot the 32's exceedingly well. The only 32gr handload that equalled it was H335 IIRC. Then the dies & components started to trickle down to us all & the 39gr BK's were soon enough my ...

Re: Warm Loads - Barrel Life

What would be considered allot of shooting for a day. Yesterday I fired 100 rnds from 10am to 4pm in the afternoon. It was about 65 degrees outside. Being a varmint control operator is my most favorite occupation in the world however I was exhausted by the end of the day. The load I fired was: 32 g...

Re: Winchester Brass

My Hornady book gives completely different max loads for 748 powder with a 50gr jacketed .224 bullet than my Lee book. I took for granted that the info was accurate and loaded 28 gr with a 50gr V-Max...ended up in the ER to have gunpowder removed from my cheek and bridge of my nose. I was using #40...

Re: Best accuracy - polymer tipped or small hollow point?

The 105 A-max once held both the 600 and 1000 yd bench rest records. I think the 1000 yd record remains. moorepower I would'nt doubt that. I have a 243W 8 twist that has printed a few 1's with those bullets at 100yds during load development. Took that barrel off to try my first 6BR 8 twist. Should ...

Subtract however many grains you are going to spill on the floor before doing the math! :D I see you've forgotten to close the gate on a ChargeMaster too :D I thought I was the only dummy that did that  Bill K :D ...

Re: Reverse engineering a factory Hornady 32gr V-Max

Just to clear things up a little, The "Primex" powder being bantered around SMP 746; is a General Dynamics ball powder; being made at the St. Marks, FL plant. Likewise the "Copper Erasing" compound is a Tin Dioxide that has been in the Win 760 &Win 748 powders for (according...
