Re: Bullet stability
Decided to see what my Sav 12 twist does at 15yds. 24.8gns 10X Results were just what I expected. Lousy pics but the edges look sharp and clear in person. One of the 40 V-Max has an what appears to be an unusual tear in the paper. Cardboard underneath the paper does'nt. Make of it what you will. If ...

John
I'll agree the 12 twist is not the best choice in a 20 cal.
The load I use in my 6PPC rates a 1.009 SF when shot on a computer..........Go figure

Re: Barrel Life
Today I live in Alabama and I cannot find anyone that will rebarrel, that makes barrel life important to me. Roland Not so much a problem with the Savage. You can buy a prefit factory barrel or an aftermarket custom for comparitevly small change. Buy a wrench and barrel vise or make your own and sw...

Re: Favorite Loads
Trent, I can't get the links to open. Don't know if others are having the same problem. Neither could I. Fortunately Microsoft offers a FREE Excel viewer. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=1cd6acf9-ce06-4e1c-8dcf-f33f669dbc3a Whats better than the price is it actually works :...

Re: Bullet stability
My Wild A$$ Guess would be they're not so much wobbling. Merely flying out the barrel tips up and eventually straightening out. I now and always retain the right to be totally wrong. ;) Odd either way. Maybe I'll try blasting some into the snowbanks in my driveway. Trigger finger sure is getting itc...

Re: Bullet stability
Neil Odd, very odd. Quess my first theory was off  I would take a close look at the crown. Odd that they all seem to be flying tip up. Seems strange to me anyway. I've noticed on my most recent Sav 204R barrels the crown/bore junction is not particularily sharp. Almost looks like someone hits i...

Re: Imperial Dry Neck Lube
Does anyone use the Imperial Application Media? Is the media an alternative to using a brush and Imperial Dry Neck Lube as suggested above. I have a very sticky 270 Win expander ball on a F/L Redding sizing die. Thanks Griffy I've used #8 shot before. Seemed to work fine. The brush method is better...

Re: Bullet stability
Sounds just like the classic "go to sleep theory. Your results on paper suggest otherwise. My quess is its not the twist of your rifling but the condition of your rifling ;) Put some JB in the throat. Scrub like theres no tomorrow. Personally I'd start with 600 grit paste but thats just cuz I h...

Re: 40 grain vmax.... my thoughts.
Tony Your 20 yr old 748 should be fine if stored half properly. I have some powders much older than that including 748. If it does'nt smell like rotten eggs and you see no rust color its good to go. How many rds down the tube? You say its improving. Thats common. Might be a good time to try some of ...

Re: 40 grain vmax.... my thoughts.
Tony Just a paper killer but..... The 39 should offer you the explosiveness your looking for with better BC. As noted before, it has a thinner jacket and even the core "feels" softer. Some rough barrels can run into trouble with these pills occassionally. Factory tubes have long throats. T...

Get yourself one of these. You'll never regret it.
It does come with white Mica.
Promptly chuck the Mica in the trash and substitute your graphite.

Re: TC venture
According to thier catalog the Icon is a 10 twist.
http://www.tcarms.com/catalog/
The 10 twist really helps the 40gn pills come alive. Find a load with decent velocity and the 22-250 can stay at home

Re: TC venture
My bet is finding an accurate load in one of them would be much easier than a normal 12 twist.
Just my hunch.
Of course the Icon Precision Hunter comes with a varmint weight barrel

Re: Berger bullets for 6mmAI
Generally the 80gn Berger is about as long as you can go in a 12 twist 6mm.
