Re: .204 Ruger accuracy
25.3 gns BM 40 Berg set at 2.275 COL. Fed 205M and Nosler brass. Quite mild at roughly 3550fps if memory serves. The oddest load I ever developed. Pulled from not one but two identical Audette ladder tests. Was'nt happy with the first test results and got stubborn. Shot it again. I had noticed two s...

Re: New rifle
Use one powder per outing or at least clean when changing powders. Easiest way to create fliers. Its also a good way to create tight groups that cannot be repeated. Its not just a tube with squiggly lines in it. Its a precision projectile delivery device. Treat is as such and it will teach you new t...

Re: 35 gr Berger Loads
2.265 was my lucky spot in several barrels. Never deviated from that even according to barrel wear.
Its been awhile since I've used a 204. Can you even get them out to 2.400+

Re: 35 gr Berger Loads
Never use anything but the chosen powder for foulers and never mix fouling.
The 17 and 20 cals are very discriminate. Mixing fouling will leave you chasing your tail.

Re: .204 Ruger accuracy
Just in case you forgot what us old timers could do.
5 rds of 40gn Bergers and Benchmark at 200 yds. Savage of course.
Just remembered tonight how long its been since my last visit here. Ah nostalgia.

Re: VV N530 Loads
Nah, he's not overpressure. Thats exactly what Mag Tech 7.5's do. They are complete total garbage even with starting loads. I tossed the 2000 I bought behind the back seat of my truck in case I got stuck on glare ice this winter. Would've been interesting  I do agree you should immediately stop...

Re: Bullet stability
Bill The weather idiots say we have 84" already this season. The bulk of that was just in January and thanks to the arctic jet stream we had it refuses to melt. Had to pull those decorative snowshoes off the wall and figure out how they work  Some folks may be used to that much snow but it...

Re: VV N530 Loads
Welcome to the forum. I've seen the same thing with the Mag Tech's. Primers poppin at all different load levels. No rhyme or reason to it. I simply discontinued use after that first session. Viht powders? Only advice I have is keep an eye on the necks of your fired brass. Couple the long jump to the...

Re: Taking a barrel backwards?
Clean it real good. Maybe even a little JB. Luckily WS2 cleans out much easier than moly. Don't be surprised if you get a little excessive coppering first time out. Clean it and start again. If you can't get coppering under control in a high rd count barrel it usually means the WS2 was doing its job...

Re: Bullet stability
Thanks Fred, I did not know that. Still not sure I do but thats just fine too  In traditional Joe sixpack style (which I am) I ran the numbers for 66 and 70gn bullets through JBM. Kept all the other variables the same. It does show a considerable difference or at least more than I expected. 66g...

Re: Bullet stability
Fred By no means am I an expert in ballistics. I pay little attention to such matters. It shoots, good. It doesn't shoot, bad. First time I've ever heard of discounting the polymer tips. In essence all match grade bullets have a hollow core in the front. No lead, just copper. Which means they are lig...

Ala "Secrets of the Houston Warehouse" style http://www.angelfire.com/ma3/max357/houston.html Load these and try again. 25.1 @ 2.300 (Current load) + foulers 25.2 @ 2.300 25.2 @ 2.305 25.3 @ 2.300 25.3 @ 2.305 Don't shoot any factory ammo through the barrel before testing. Let us know how ...

Re: Bullet stability
Neil Odd, very odd. Quess my first theory was off  I would take a close look at the crown. Odd that they all seem to be flying tip up. Seems strange to me anyway. I've noticed on my most recent Sav 204R barrels the crown/bore junction is not particularily sharp. Almost looks like someone hits ...
