Re: powder keg
Yeah, it holds 50 pounds of powder, but the limit in California is 20 pounds without a permit. That means I limit my powder stock to 20 pounds in a magazine with a 50 pound capacity. A bit like filling your gas tank half full. I just limit myself to a few select powders after working up a load, tryi...

Re: Primers Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then I read that CCI stopped production of the BR 4 primer due to ignition problems. So, if all that is true, then the other manufacturers will be impacted by the increase demand.

Re: powder keg
I bought one, with the casters. It is a lockable storage magazine that meets federal storage requirements for indoor magazines. There are two locks with different keys for security. the purpose of the magazine is security. It only offers fire resistence by being metal, so a spark falling on it will ...

Re: The Bedding Job Was A HUGE Success
I used the acraglas gel kit. My advice would be to tape off your gun BEFORE you even open the box. I didn't and got all excited and almost ruined my gun.. Luckily, with a little elbow grease I was able to fix er' up and it shoots better than ever now Yes, I have more blue masking tape than sense. I...

Re: So You Want To Buy A Remington 204
Generally, I no longer purchase new factory rifles. For Remington, I pick up a used rifle as cheap as possible, strip the action, and send it off for truing and rebarreling. Those new Savage Precision Target Actions (.223) are even better, as they include a good trigger, heavy recoil lug, small diam...

Re: Preping new brass
After working up courage and swilling three cups of coffee, I dip the necks into Imperial Neck Lube, then run 'em through a neck sizer. Next they get run through a trimmer set to 1.840", then inside chamfered. Next, being obsessive, I use a neck turning tool to skim the wire bead off the case m...

Re: Nosler brass?
Varmint Grenades seem to work best with Reloader 10X, then Benchmark, in my Shilen barreled Savage PTA action. Barnes recommends seating .020" off the lands. I use a comparator for measuring seating depth, and a seating depth gauge for determining OAL. Varmint Grenades will vary +/- .003" ...

Re: Hornady 204 Brass
jo191145: Glad to hear your experience, it may indicate that Winchester has improved. A few years ago I expected to find defective cases in both Winchester and Remington brass, it was just the way things were. My last batches of Winchester .22-250 and .257 Roberts were just as good as the .204 Ruger...

Re: Hornady 204 Brass
I purchased 100 Hornady cases for barrel break-in as it was all that was available. Normally Hornady cases are excellent and I use them frequently (.223, 6.5x284). However the batch I purchased had numerous defects which included, burrs around the flash hole that partially blocked the hole, 10% had ...

Re: More Bad News: Obama Ammo Ban Coming....
Merry Christmas everyone! The idea that firearms can have a ballistic record filed away and used to search for a perpetrator is a fallacy. This scheme has been tried in Maryland, where every handgun sold had to have a fired cartridge case submitted to the state police data bank. My new Ruger SRH had...

Re: New to Neck Turning
I have been considering getting into this but I have a factory barrel, will neck turning be of any benefit to me or is this a step best reserved for those who have a custom barrel with a tighter neck? To be honest I haven't measured for consitency in the thickness of the Hornady brass that I use, b...

Re: cost of reloading the 204
Cost of reloading, or in my case loading - as I rarely purchase factory ammo - is offset by intangibles of knowledge, experience and accomplishment. Developing your own accurate cartridges is a separate hobby with just as much satisfaction as shooting and hunting. If you eventually add cobbling up y...

Re: Oh no.. A cleaning question.
I use carburetor cleaner in the nifty spray can to blast off my bronze brushes, it's cheap and sold at discount parts stores. CRC brand and Berryman's B-12 Chemtool are both great as they dissolve and remove any traces of solvent residue, while quickly evaporating and leaving no residue of their own...

Re: Here We Go....Anti-Gun Obama Ready to Rip the 2nd Amendment
The NRA is using hyperbole to drum up donations and membership renewals. My wife received the email because she is an annual member, I did not because I am a life member. It's okay to donate and even advisable, but don't get too emotional about the NRA's demagoguery. Obama is going to have a very di...
