Re: Need Some Help.....New Rifle Gone Bad!!!

acloco - I read your reply post again on SS..... I'm a little unclear why I should use something like Flitz along with TEC.....? Can you explain it to me a little better so my little head can grasp what the purpose is of the metal polisher? :D Wouldn't I be ok to just to scrub out with TEC and then ...

Re: Need Some Help.....New Rifle Gone Bad!!!

I had a person on Savage Shooters tell me that he has seen this problem with both 4895 and Benchmark, so I will do some more testing before I switch powders :D It likes the 39gr SBK and 25.2 grains of R10x soooo much. But then again, maybe my barrel was a little fouled when trying the other load com...

UPDATED: Need Some Help.....Problem was 39 SBK's!!

First a little history....I bought a new Savage .204 a month or so ago, and it was shooting very good groups with 25.2 grains of R10X and a 39 grain SBK. The groups were so good that I decided to build my dope off of the load. So, I went out a couple of days ago to shoot some distance and confirm th...

Re: Feeding Problems.....Help?

Well....here is my outcome..... I did take it to a gunsmith to see if he could adjust the feed lips in the magazine. The metal is so hard along with springback, that he was not able to get it adjusted. So it comes down to the fact that I can't seat the Berger bullets out to where I would like. Howev...

Re: Another "To the Lands" and Loads Question

Great. Thanks for the feedback. Will get back out and try those seating depths and loads as soon as the weather breaks.

Another "To the Lands" and Loads Question

Looking for some insight....... I just bought my first .204 which is in the Savage Predator model. I am in the load development stage and I was wondering about seating depth. I have found that my lands for the 35 gr Berger is 2.390 and for the 39 gr SBK is 2.435. My rifle only allows me to seat the ...

Re: Temperature stability of burn rates

Baba: Despite what has been said to the contrary, two of my 204's thrive on RL-10X with both the 32 & 39 SBK's. It has become my go-to powder for two out of three of my 204's, giving the hightest velocity with the best accuracy, but No. 3 has not been shot yet, so can only comment on the perfor...

Re: Sizing button

Muley: The Redding Type S bushing dies in 204 are exactly like all their other bushing dies...no difference. No need to be bummed out. Not so. The sizing button on the .204 is part of the piece that is used to lock down the decapping pin. On my other dies, same type, say the 22/250 the sizing butto...

Re: Sizing button

The type S is very nice and not cheap by my standards as well......My last post wasn't worded very well.......Sorry. What I meant to say is that my Type S dies all came with a smaller button. However, I don't have a type S in .204. What you might be saying is that the .204 may be different in that i...

Re: Sizing button

Two of my Redding Type S FL Match die sets actually came with a smaller replacement button for that exact reason. Not sure if the cheaper sets come with it though.

Re: Feeding Problems.....Help?

Sorry, I should have mentioned.....they do manually chamber just fine. It definitely has something to do with the feeding ramp and bullet relationship....

Feeding Problems.....Help?

I am hoping some one can help me with a problem I've encountered. I just purchased a new Savage Model 10 Predator .204. In my load developement, I have found that my distance to lands is 2.390" and my best grouping load is .2.380". However, the rifle won't chamber a round that long.......t...
