Re: broken firing pin

Received the Mark II back today from repair. They replaced the firing pin and main spring. They also function checked the rifle. The rifle was away from home just over 4 weeks. I will fire it tomorrow.Kudos and high marks to Ruger's customer service.

Re: .20 cal cleaning patches???

I use Southern Bloomer patches Item # 122. They measure about 1 1/4 square and seem to fit the 204 quite well.I use a slotted tip though.I never have got the knack for a jag.The patches are available through Mid way. I just started using Gunzilla bore solvent. It is a natural ingredient plant based l...

Re: broken firing pin

You guys were right on the money.I spoke with customer service and the bolt is on the way back to New Hampshire for repair. She also told me that Ruger parts are NOT available and they would repair any of their guns for life provided the weapon remains in modified condition.I guess that is a pretty d...

broken firing pin

Just started shooting new Ruger 77 MKll in .204 of course.Had 132 rounds of various factory fodder down the tube when the firing pin literally disappeared into the bolt.Tiny particles of powdered metal around the pin hole. Now what? Can I have a local gunsmith work on it or does it have to go back to...

Re: Recommended Bench

I have a Caldwell BR Pivot on backorder since last Sept 25 from Optics Planet.Having tired of the continued delay in shipping,I called Battenfield Tech myself. The customer service person told me the bench would NOT ship until this fall.I left the bench on back order. It is a good thing I don't need i...

Re: Brass O Matic

Rick, No. I am not cash heavy.Mostly curious. If I had that kind of money I would probably buy more primers and bullets. I place my water pan on a small lazy susan turntable and just turn the pan using a standard tip on the old propane bottle. This has worked for me for years.I should look into that s...

Re: I don't know if this is an urban legend or if it's true

I have used a variety of whistles with varying degrees of success. My father was able to mimic the airy whistle of the ground hog.He always got one to peek his head up.Usually his last peek.I never was any good at whistling, so years ago I tried a police whistle. That worked but the hogs got used to ...

Brass O Matic

I like to anneal new brass.I still do it in a pan of water the tried and true way.Have any of you guys tried the Brass O Matic by Zephyr dynamics? Kinda pricey but looks very effective and definately speed up the process. No water quenching though.By controlling the flame time there is no risk of hea...

Silver fox, Good shootin and wonderfully gory photos.Gotta love it. I see that you wear elbow pads.I assume that is for going prone on your walk abouts. My wife and I made our first trip to the Rosebud in 03.Most of the shooting was from a bench and we soon realized that a soft right elbow pad would ...

Re: Tell us about yourself...

Thanks for the welcome Rick.Yes retirement is very good.Haven't had much trigger time though this summer.I was chief cook and bottle washer for the three grand kids all summer.Swimming lessons, bicycles, ect. You know the drill.Sometimes I felt more like a referee and their jailer. We had a good summer...
