Re: Your thoughts on AO for a .17 HMR

Thanks for the info guys.

Another question: Would you guys hesitate to buy an older Leupold? One of the Vari-X models? I am keeping tabs on some on Ebay right now, some are the Vari-X II 6-18 AO. I don't know if 6-18 would be overboard for a .17 HMR, but if the price is right...

Thanks

Your thoughts on AO for a .17 HMR

I want to get a higher power scope for my .17 HMR than the Leupold VX-II 3X9 I have now. I was thinking of purchasing either a 4X12 or 4.5X14 since some of my shots this past Spring on "Skippy" were beyond 200 yards (when the wind wasn't blowing). I wanted to get your thoughts on the neces...

Re: Took my Cooper out during The Doldrums

Your running those 40gr Noslers at about the same FPS as your .204 with 39gr aren't ya? That probably makes compensating for trajectory differences not too bad when switching from the .223 to .204 huh. Though I understand that the BC on the .204 is better and makes a difference. Stupid Question for ...

What trigger pull do you guys prefer for your 17HMR?

I recently purchased a Marlin 917VS and while the factory trigger isn't too bad, I definitely want to either swap the trigger out or have a talented gunsmith work on the existing trigger. This rifle will pretty much be used exclusively off the bench either shooting paper or squirrels and pdogs. I kn...

Always enjoy the posts of your "Adventures with Skippy" Rick. Good quality pics and entertaining narrative. I dare say that most frequenters of this forum look forward to them. :D

I don't know ...

My Grandfather told me that the biggest mistake a man could make is to teach or date a woman that knows how to shoot a gun. :D

Re: Hey Rick, question about your 243 AI.

No worries about tangents from the thread topic as the initial question has been answered. Any talk about guns (especially 788's) is interesting to me, so this thread can go where it may. :D

So I take it that "Black Death" was named after a not-so-pleasant girl/experience in your life!!!   I guess it makes sense to use the wrath of an unpleasant woman to wreak havoc on the defenseless!   As you can probably tell I read this forum a lot... so is ...

Hey Rick, question about your 243 AI.

I noticed that every now and then you will throw up a pic of or make mention of your 243AI, but I never see it included on your "Adventures with Skippy" which makes me wonder if the ranges you would normally use it for aren't available at the ranches you shoot, or if you don't want to wast...

Cabela's made me do it!

I was set on getting a 22 Mag until I saw the price of this Marlin 917VS-CF at the Cabela's 4th of July Sale. After going back and forth and reading some comparisons done between the two calibers I decided that the 17HMR looked like a fun caliber to have, so I bit the bullet and took advantage of th...

Re: Back from the 09 Rat Rodeo - Part II (Pics)

That's gotta be tough work shooting that Cooper all day. :D

I held a Cooper for the first time last week at Sportsman's Warehouse and I can see why the price tag is what it is. It was a beautiful rifle and felt like pure quality to me.
