Re: Magnum primers for small pistol loads
Not at all scientific just my experiance. I, like many, have loaded a lot of different loads over the years. I use to shoot a silouette load that recommended Magnum primers. I had a bunch around but they were all you could get in the stores so like most otheres I bought some and wondered what they w...
Re: SR1911
Who new this thread would be about the good old days. I heard that there was a Ruger 1911 at one of the local gun stores so I stopped in to see it but they hardly had any guns. They said you could get the brochure and look at the picture but no delivery date. No they didnt have primers, ammuntion or...

Re: handload for a .38
Should be easy to load. When using Bullseye you are using a very small amount of powder so it is possible to overcharge or double charge and this is bad. I like to weigh every round so it is not an issue for me but it is worth it to be extra careful. Unique is my personal favorite. It seems to alway...

Re: Youth 6mm Remington Advice
I did this many years ago and it worked out well. The 6mm was for my wife but my daughter liked it really well. The length of pull was pretty short after I set it up for her but I could still shoot it with no dificulty. The caliber is a really good choice. My only knock on it is it has a pretty shar...

Re: snow varmints
A huge sprawling subdivision in northern nevada had an internal subdivision law that you could only shoot at the gun range. The gun range was a beauty but they had real problems with ground squirls. Anybody put in a lawn and it got eaten up. Sombody came up with a sort of a sewer snake that had an i...

Re: Ground squirrels endangered in Idaho
Its pretty depressing even to see ground squirls in the regulations. I have a 1981 regulation. Everything is in one reg. and it is a fold up deal. Made from one sheet about 22 by 30 printed on both sides but about 8 by 11 of it is a cover and another 8 by 11 is contact information and another sectio...

Re: Ground squirrels endangered in Idaho
I just checked Idaho's regulations and they say ground squirl hunting is open state wide except an area around brownlee and hells canyon dam. It says it is in response to the type of squirl there being listed as an endangered species. There is a ground squirl called a golden mantle squirl that is cl...

Re: old style ruger all weather stock

Re: my .204
Interesting that the factory round would be supirior to the reloads. My .204 is a ruger no. 1. I bought it from a friend and he included dies and 60 factory rounds. I found this forum in a quest for reloading data. I bought 100 winchester unprimed cases and worked up a load based on reloder 15 which...

Re: my .204
I have a handy rifle in .223 with a leupold 3 to 9. It shoots under an inch at 100 all the time. Sometimes under a 1/2 inch with reloads. It seems to stay where its sighed to without effort. It only had one problem. About 1 in three rounds would stick and require a ramrod to remove it. I talked to H...

Re: Your Best/Favorite Deer Hunting Rifles?
In 1964 my Dad gave me his Remington 721 in .270 It shot a lot of deer for me and had for him. No scope and no problems. I bought a .25-06 adl and killed a lot of deer and several elk with it. Decided I needed more bullet weight and got a .30-06 adl. It worked as advertised. I lucked into a .300 win...

Re: old style ruger all weather stock
I've now looked at about 10,000 listings on a bunch of gun parts sale lists. Looks like I missed the market. Pretty typical of my luck.
