Re: This funny and serious - The Coyote Problem

Castrating them wouldn't work because they wouldn't be sexually active. Vasectomies might work.

Re: Stupid move, need help.

You can just push out the primers with the decapping pin. The comparative slowness of the pressure build up on the primer compound, of the ram as compared to the firing pin, means that the compound just crumbles and doesn't ignite. However as hard as primers are to get, you might want to keep them i...

Re: Will unfired brass change accuracy/grouping?

The rounds loaded with new/unfired brass may have more slop, if your chamber is on the large size, and this will have an effect on accuracy. I shoot a Ruger No. 1, and neck size only. Brass that has been fired and then neck sized gets the group size down to about .375 with my rifle. I don’t n...

When they ban guns it doesn't slow the criminals down.

Found this on a newsline this morning. Per capita fire arms violence went up when they banned just about all the guns, because only the criminals had guns and were emboldened. Now, they are resorting to alternate methods. http://my.att.net/s/editorial.dll?eeid=6530878&eetype=article&render=y...

Re: New Brass - Stuck Case

If you can get a bit of dry ice try:

Heat the die and stuck case with a blow drier until they are hot to the touch.

Then apply the dry ice to the bottom of the case, (try not to touch the die).

This will usually pop the case free.

Re: World record elk--(if you say so)

Well for some people the goal is the trophy. For others, the hunt is the goal. Personally, I hunt to hunt. I hunt big bucks, but will shoot a forky in the last two days of the season: if, it is somewhere that will be relatively easy to recover. Don't disparage the Governor's Auction Tag, and the sim...

How do I fit the length of pull on a kids stock?

My 8-year old daughter likes coming out to the range with her big brother and me. She has been shooting my 10-22 with a bipod and rear bag, with a loose "hold", because her arms aren't long enough yet to actually shoulder the rifle yet. She is getting pretty good though, and can explode a ...

Re: Primer Seating Depth!

Could be the firing pin, but not real probable on a new rifle.

Might be the primer depth, but could also be that some cases have the shoulder pushed back too far, and move forward enough to prevent good impact by the firing pin.

It could also be a bit of contamination on the primers themselves.

Re: Refinishing My Stock

I would recommend a wiping varnish, such as Watco, or even plain old Boiled Linseed Oil. They both have the advantage of being extremely easy to care for: just pull the stock every time you clean the gun, wipe on a new coat, wait ten minutes and wipe off any thing that didn't soak in. I don't like t...

Re: difference between target and varmint bullets

As a general rule, the target bullet has a thicker copper jacket, and is less frangible than the varmint bullet.

If you want a definitive answer, email Berger.

I have 40-rounds each of Remington, and Winchester, that I don't intend to use.

I have standardized on the Hornady.

So, I would either sell or trade the Remy and Win brass.

Re: Nosler 32G Load Data

They may have different geometries, and thus bullet to barrel friction area, so the pressures could be quite a bit different.

That said, the data for the V-Max will give you a good starting point. Just pay close attention, (like always), if you start loading close to max powder charges.

Re: IMR 4064 Loads?

Looking at the IMR-4064 load data, it would appear that you should be quite safe with the 4064. The max load IMR lists is a compressed load, at about 3000-psi less than SAMMI the max, so there is no way you can accidentally double charge a case.

Re: Time to Think Reloading?

Have you done any tuning on the rifle yet? I'm asking because I would have expected you to be able to get a decent group with one of the factory loadings. As to your groups: are they just scattered, (this can be a sign of easy to fix things like a loose stock to action fit, or grungy barrel); or do ...
