Re: A New 20 cal round
If you are interested in the 20s check out saubier.com. Lots of good info over there. If you want a 20x47L build one. I have a couple of 20brs pushing 55 Bergers at 3580. Very impressive in the prairie dog fields.

Re: End of my rope
I have two .204s that like 25.1 RE10x with 39gr SBK seated around 2.285-2.295. All of my rifles are very sensitive to seating depth. It is even worse with the .204s because of the ridiculously long throats. You really didn't discuss your load development but I am quite sure you have not found the lo...

Mine shoots .2s and low .3s (5 shot groups) with 25.1 RE10X under 39gr SBKs.

Re: first reloads/groups with my Cooper
Looks like a good start. Mine will shoot 1/4" groups with 25.1 RE10X under a 39SBK seated at 1.927 measured at the ogive.

Re: Cooper model 21 or others?
Mike and Rick in Oregon nailed it. Although I disagree the statement about Savages being crude. I would not buy a Cooper for predator hunting where a quick follow up shot may be needed. I own Coopers in .204, 20VT, and a model 22 currently being barreled in 20BR. I also own two Savages. It is awesom...

A 20VT, 20BR and another 20BR on the way. More 20s will come in the future.

Re: Anyone accurately tested the effects of seating depth
Both of my 204s are very sensitive to seating depth and both prefer different seating depths. Groups will go from .25 to over 1" in my Cooper with different seating depths.

Re: New Cooper
I suggest trying different brands and bullet weights of the factory rounds. I am assuming this is a .204r I have had the best luck with Hornady 40 gr vmax which is weird because I can not get them to shoot it my reloads. Reloading wise Reloader 10x and 39SBK works in both my .204s.

Re: 204 OAL help needed
I have two different 204rs. Both like right around .22 jump from lands to the ogive. For yours that should be around 2.217 oal at the ogive.

Re: 204 at 600 yards?
I have to agree with the previous posts but you should try the 39gr Blitz kings. They would close the windage gap to almost nothing and would smoke the 308 in the trajectory department. Last time out shooting prairie dogs I prefered my 204 over the 243 even in the wind. Add a mildot scope or just cl...

I had a Bushnell now I have a Leica. Do not waste your money on cheap rangefinders you will be disappointed. Save and get the Leicas.

I hear it is good in the smaller vartarg but agree it may be too fast for the 204. If you do try it let us know what you find.

Re: search is over
That's funny I thought the Consensus was that the best load for most 204s is re10x and 39sbks. Both of my 204s prefer this combo. Very simple load work up for both.

Re: Optic Power Hogs
My Elite 6500 4.5-30 is much more clear than my buddies Burris 8-32 at any given power. I think it is an awesome scope if you need the range. However my 4200 seems a little more clear to me.
