Re: My handloads stink up the entire West Coast...

Had a similar neck tension issue. Solution.....turf those cheap dies, get a set of the redding Type S dies with the bushings and start making top shelf ammo! Get that hornady AOL and gauge as well and see how long you can seat your bullets out. If I shoot my remy single shot, I can load my ammo to 2...

Re: Redding Bushing Size Survey

I was really just curious what you guys are using in general. I got the .225" and .226" when I got the dies, should have ordered a .224" as well. All bases should be covered then.

Re: Redding Bushing Size Survey

Sorry guys, what i meant to say was the tension IMPROVED a bit with the .225" but I think a little more is in order. I do not turn necks on my brass. The cases in question were hornady and remington. Have tey to run any winnies through the die. That is why I paln on having several more so that ...

Re: Redding Bushing Size Survey

In rick I trust! I had the same thoughts. Enough tension so as not to shave the bullets but a tight fit is the objective. Thanks rick, going to get the .224" unit.

Re: .204 Cleaning Patch Size

Dewey....the cleaning rod people, have thier own brand of patches. 1000 in a bag, $12.00 or $13.00 something like that. Nice tight fit in the bore but not too tight. All I use now. Order them straight off thier web page.

Redding Bushing Size Survey

Got my repaired type S match die back from redding yesterday and we are good to go. Sized up a bunch of brass and tried seating some bullets. It would appear now that there is more tension being exerted on the bullet than before but I feel that maybe dropping a size might be in order. Using the .225...

Re: My handloads stink up the entire West Coast...

I would have to say ditto of the VG's. My remy loves them and my bro inlaw's ruger HATES them. I see the VG's as having limited use any way, I would go with another bullet and not loose any sleep over it.

Re: 35s, 39s, or 40s for Coyotes

I use the 39 grain sierra exclusively for yotes'. Fur it not a big issue with me and this bullet is super accurate in my remington. In my parts the ranges tend to get longer and I want all the help I can get downrange to put these guys down. 1st and last choice the 39 grain BK......GREAT BULLET!!

Re: Ruger M77 II Target/Varmint in 204 Ruger?

Ya, this ruger seems to be a winner so after the VARGET experiment my bro in law tried, I did the same in my remy with the Vmax's and was most pleased. Not going to switch from the BK's any time soon but good back up loads they will make.

Re: Ruger M77 II Target/Varmint in 204 Ruger?

A little update, got a chance to see my bro in laws new ruger shoot this week and MAN! SHe is a winner! All he had on hand was varget using 40 grain vmaxs and this gun appears to very capable of shooting tiny groups! Showed me a few targets with 5 shots groups that are well under a half inch. Very p...

How is the trigger on this bad boy? From what I gather it is still in the 4+ pound range.

Re: New VSSF, how much 10X?

My VSF LOVES 10X!! Best load is 25.1 grains with the 39 grain sierra, load consistantly groups into less than .375" for 5 shots and is devastating downrange! I have gone up as high as 25.7 grains but accuracy suffers at that charge. A few between 25.1 and 25.7 were also good, just not as consis...

Ruger M77 II Target/Varmint in 204 Ruger?

Well, it has happened......my brother in law has shot out the barrel of his browning and has decided after watching me keep up with him shot for shot all winter long to invest in a 204. He has settled on the target/varmint model in 204 and I was just curious if anyone out there has one of these crit...
