Re: Stainless Steel Bore Brushes

Had no problem getting a 20 cal rod, brushes etc. from dewy, showed up in a week. This hoppes stuff is working but it is a slow go. I would prefer something that will expidite the copper issue as dog season is just around the corner and DO NOT have a clue what the gun likes yet.

Re: Stainless Steel Bore Brushes

Thanks joe, you gave me a crap load of insight. Untill I get this 204 clean it will not be shot again. Monday morning I need to place an order with dewey, seems I need NYLON brushes in 17, 20 and 22 caliber. Have got the point that most of these new upscale solvents are best used with nylon brushes ...

Re: Stainless Steel Bore Brushes

Gotcha, NO STAINLESS!!! Pardon my ignorance but what is kroil? I have heard of this mixture with shooters choice bore cleaner, must be good. Shot the 204 again today and it was better but within a very short time, it was all coppered up again. What does a guy do to help this problem along?

Re: Stainless Steel Bore Brushes

Superb!!! So start with CLP, use a copper cutter (if needed) and finish with CLP? Sounds too easy.

Re: Stainless Steel Bore Brushes

Good for you, did you do any work to the gun? I have a whack of 32 grainers (Bkings and Vmax's) over benchmark ready to go. Now that the gun is clean and I will have all the RIGHT cleaning stuff with me, all should be well again at the next range session. So how well does this CLP stuff work anyway?...

Re: Stainless Steel Bore Brushes

By the way cadeuses, how's that model 7 predator workin' out for you? I ended up getting rid of mine after about 300 rounds the bloody thing still was not shooting like I had hoped and spending more money on the gun to fix the problems was not an option. Hope yours is better, good luck.

Re: Stainless Steel Bore Brushes

Being it is made up here should have no problem finding it then!?! Apparently the new 204 I bought earlier this week developed a copper issue so after about 2 hours of brushing and CR-10 and 1 less bore brush the darn thing is finally clean. Generally my cleaning ritual is such: Wet out the bore wit...

Stainless Steel Bore Brushes

Do any of you lads use stainless bore brushes? Just a curiosity, as bronze dont seem to last long, especially if you use CR-10 with them. Any thoughts out there?

Re: 204 heavy bullet problems

Hey ACloco, took your advice and ran some patches with shooters choice through the bore with patches that FIT PROPERLY and low and behold, some brownish crap came out, next, a brush with CR-10 and what do you know again, blue crap for all!!!! Have now brushed it twice and going to let it sit for a b...

Re: 204 heavy bullet problems

Very interesting and well said. So maybe a clean gun is not all it is cracked up to be? I assure you that bore on this new gun is NOW free of anything. I found that out with my 17 fireball, benchmark shot better but seemed to gum up the barrel faster, H4198 was the ticket to shoot all day and not wo...

Re: 204 heavy bullet problems

Cleaned the barrel very thoroughly at the range and when I got home and YES, the barrel was very dirty when I got home. Took me a good hour and a half to get it clean but I will not allow this to happen again. Usually clean every 20 rounds when punching paper, a dirty gun don't shoot tiny groups.
