Re: Distance to lands

After measuring and doing the math (wich I am Better at than spelling) I find that I can not get there Right, with my Savage LPV 204, marking a bullet, seating it lightly in an empty case then chambering, when it finally touches the lands the bullet is not seated into the case anywhere near enough....

Re: can target shooting start a fire?

Moral of the story, shooting at steel with dry tinder near by can create a fire even with lead and copper. Quite true, I read of more than one small local fire that was started by target shooting when the conditions were right. I've lost count of how many have been started by a spark from a power l...

Re: Glass Bedding your stock?

I would go for at least a credit card. Right. My last one was the first one I'd ever used a Dremel on and I started out REAL CAREFULLY and slow and found if I angled the round sanding drum in relation to the front and rear of the stock, I could go along the top inner edge of the foreend real smooth...

Re: Glass Bedding your stock?

The last one I did a couple years ago I went with ScoreHi Gunsmithing's kit instead of Brownell's. It was a Howa Varminter Supreme laminated stock and I got ScoreHi's pillar and glass kit. They offer a choice between brown or dark grey epoxy. Nice people to deal with and they have lots of info on th...

Re: Problems with always having to "Login"!

You're welcome, but I forgot to add, when I go to a post, I still have to go down to the lower right and use the "go" button to successfully get back to the thread rather than use the browser button but that's no big deal.

Re: Problems with always having to "Login"!

What was suggested above worked great for me this morning. You might give it a try. Yesterday I deleted the 204 forum from my favorites, then deleted the 204 forum cookie, then hit control o to get a new web address window, typed in "204ruger.com/forum" as shown above, after it came up I p...

Re: Is the 204 suitable for wolves?

I live in Idaho, and depending on what the Federal Judge in Montana says, we may or may not have a wolf season this fall.
As you probably know by now he just said it. Evidently the big city wolf lovers did a good job judge-shopping. The delisting is now on hold.

Re: Hot Barrels In Eastern Oregon Part 3

Caldwell also makes the same bag. I got one from Midway, but haven't had time to try it out. By the Midway pic, I thought it was the regular smaller bag that could be used for either end so when I saw how big it is I didn't know if I'd like it or not. Good to know you guys like them. Caldwell calls ...

Re: Yard Varmint Safari

Personally, I prefer a more flamboyant stalk and hunt. My daughter had to give us her funny looking wide as he was long fluffy blue-eyed Himalayan cat, and early one morning I was out and saw the mole movement at the forward end of his just- under-the-ground tunnel. I'm thinking, this ain't gonn'a w...

Re: new stock

To me the thumbhole stock makes the gun more comfortable to shoot! more control, easier to handle! I agree, my one and only thumbhole is my 22-250 Howa Varminter Supreme and there's nothing about the stock I don't like. However, like Glenn posted, I'd be leary about that dual grip without getting a...

Aha, thank you Glenn. For your convenience in the mean time, I found that if you go to the bottom right and hit the "go" button instead of the browser return you can go back successfully without getting the ERROR page.

I'm replying basically to see if my post goes through. I was wondering if someone was banned from the site with a screen name close to mine and someone hit a wrong key and I was sent down the crapper by mistake! :(

I agree with what Glenn said.
Me too. I researched them to death as best I could before I bought my Howa and went with another tried and true 22-250 caliber.

Re: Cratered Primers with new model 12 LPV

Thanks for the advice. The weather finally cleared up so in about an hour or two I'm going to jump on my 4 wheeler and go over to the BLM land and see if the Remington 7 1/2 primers make a difference. If you haven't already seen it, there's some really great information on primers, (thickness of dif...
