Re: COAL
From 6mmbr.com on May 23rd, 2008 RELOADING TIP: Andris Silins has come up with a simple way to measure length to the lands in your rifle: “Here’s what I did to find length to lands for seating my bullets. I made four cuts into the neck of fire-formed brass. Then I pressed the bullet in ...

Re: Pictures from the range
Nice shooting Chuckhunter. I'm glad to hear IMR-4064 is working good for you, it's not a powder we hear being used in the .204 often. When I check my Burn Rate Comparison Chart it lists IMR-4064 directly above Reloader 15, meaning it is just slightly faster than it (but basically the same). Just two...

Re: Extreme freebore in Howa 1500
Here is an update on my seating depth test. What I did was set up my seater to give approx 2.285 overall length. The overall length will vary but base to ogive is consistant using my seater. Then I loaded three rounds and labeled them "0". Then I adjusted the mic on my Wilson seater +1, +2...

Re: Changing primers.
Foxwhistler, you got it. The 7.5's are DEFINITLY hotter than the BR4's, start out low. You will get greater velocity and preasure with the 7.5's all else being equal. I personally don't think that any primer is more accurate than the other, it's dependant upon the combination. You'll find the right ...

Re: .204 IN A WEATHERBY VANGUARD VARMIT SPECIAL
Welcome to the forum, you'll definitely enjoy shooting that 204. The 39gr Sierra is a nice bullet (great BC), you should have good luck with it. If the 39's and benchmark turns out not be a good combo in your rifle, I'd stick with the 39's and try H4895, especially if you'll be shooting it in extrem...

Re: Extreme freebore in Howa 1500
I agree 100% with glenn that you should tinker with seating depths. But, don't let anyone (including me) tell you where to start or what might work. In MY experience, my Savage and my neighbour's CZ 527 both like 2.285 OAL. It's just a fluke that they happen to like the same seating depth though (We...

Re: Developing long range loads.
O.K. I just have to pass this along. This is really wierd... all this talk of "sleeping bullets" lately and what do you know, today I happened upon some credible mention of it. Today I got the new edition of Precision Shooting , June 2008, Vol.56, No.2. In it there is an eleven page articl...

Re: Removing copper fouling - sharing the info
I agree with Ray 100%. Sweets is the way to go. It is some major powerful stuff, don't leave it too long. My patches come out glowing bright blue. It just disintegrates the copper chemically, NO BRUSHING. I use a bore scope and have zero copper.

Re: Developing long range loads.
I might be getting off track here but this interesting. All arrows wobble/yaw when released. All of them. The quicker they stabilize or settle down, and if they stabilize, has a great impact on accuracy. Watch these videos, they will AMAZE you. I still remember the sense of awe I experienced when I ...

Re: Developing long range loads.
As jo191145 said, that's some fine shooting. It's kinda nice timming that this conversation is taking place. I have been thinking and reading a lot about this lately because of my little problem. In no way am I a physicist or a balistics expert, so take my thinking however you will. I have been reso...
