I'm tired so I was just kind of skimming the pics in the last half of your write up, and let me tell you, I got a little freaked out when I saw that fryin pan. Not often you see that at the end of a prairie dog story. lol

Been trying to get this thing ready for a month now, between paint and looking for the right glass. Almost done, just need a trigger job and get the optics painted to match. Might get the painting done but the factory trigger is going to have to do for the first shoot of the year (countdown: 5 days!...

Thanks for the advice but the aluminum shims worked perfectly. I was a little worried about scratching the scope but I'm going to <gasp> paint it anyway. Now that it's complete I can get some bench photos.

So I just picked up a Leupold 3x9 50 Rifleman scope for my .204 Remington 700. The scope touches the barrel slightly when sitting in the rings (Leupold dove-tail medium .770 rings).
