I dont know about the Canadian regulations, but you might try a Howa 1500 with the Hogue overmoulded stock, in .204 Ruger, its pillar bedded from the factory, and is about the same price as the Stevens. Mine is very accurate and im still in load development. I would recommend this rifle to anyone.

Go ahead and bed the 270, i have bedded several stocks and if i can do it anyone can! Just take your time, and read and UNDERSTAND the directions, I you are going to use AcraGlas, get the Gell, its a lot easier to work with ine my opinion. I agree with you all on the Howa trigger, I have three Vanguard/Howas and put Timney triggers on all of them. Ill probably do the same with this one, but I got the creep out of it, and it breaks at 1 1/2 pounds so ill try it for awhile. Its a 1500 with a Hogue over moulded stock which is pillar bedd...

After adjusting my sizer die, I chambered a newly sized case in my Howa 1500. Upon extracting the case i noticed several longitudinal scratches on the case. Just to make sure it wasnt my die causing this, I resized another case and inspected it carefully...No scratches. I chambered this case, extrac...
