That's some fine shooting, Song Dog.
Best of luck with that nice rifle!
My 527 likes those 39 BK's too, with a dose of Reloder 10.
I need to do a bit of posting myself soon....

Re: Question for CZ 527 Owners
Brad, All very good ideas. I really like my 527. For me, it's the perfect balance of accuracy, handling and quality construction. However, the problems you are addressing are glaring ones and good fixes would make the rifle just about perfect. A .30BR chambering would make it absolutely perfect; but...

Re: Question for CZ 527 Owners
Brad,
I'd be VERY interested in this project.
This addresses the only weak point that I see in the rifle.
Please let me know if you go forward with it!

Re: 40S&W or 357 mag.?
If you're looking to buy just one versatile handgun (general range use, home defense, etc.) to also serve as a black bear defense gun, the .357 is a good choice. Go with a 6" barrel to maximize velocity. If you're getting a gun to be carried just for bear defense, go with a .44 mag. Both the .3...

Thanks!
I don't have the manual as I bought this rifle used. I'll see if I can find it online.

Re: Fired my first rounds - need suggestions please.
As to the "set trigger", I've heard of it, but have no idea how it works.
I have one on my Hawken, and it is a help. I should find out how this one works.

Fired my first rounds - need suggestions please.
It took nearly two years, but I finally loaded up some rounds and gave my CZ 527 Varmint a try. I bought two bullets: the Berger 35 grain Varmint, and the Sierra 39 grain Blitz King. For my first outing, I chose the 39 grain bullet and 24.4 grains of Reloder 10, with a Remington 7-1/2 primer, all in...

Please don't tell my wife - for me, thinking is verboten, and best done clandestinely. But your question does show you're thinking!

Re: How to best clean these cases?
I'm concerned that the powder residue will effect the inside of my die, despite the wax, or even create a build-up because of the wax.
I have to wonder - is there enough residue, especially after multiple firings, to change the interior volume of the case, however slightly?

Anyone using surplus powders?
WC844 and WC846 seem like good partners for the .204. Has anyone worked up loads for either?

I've heard of a product called IOSSO. Anyone try it?

How to best clean these cases?
I ran mine through a couple of hours in the vibratory cleaner, with the usual media. Getting the media out was a chore; I had to do a lot of shaking, poking with a pipe cleaner, and to be safe looked in each case with a bore light. Is there a finer grade of tumbling media, or another cleaning proces...

Re: Reloader 12 in the .204?
Never been to a dogtown (a few bars that were close), but I guess it could happen!
More likely I'd be shooting chucks.
I do have a pound of Rel. 7. It has a lot of uses, and never fails to impress.

Re: Reloader 12 in the .204?
Three pounds would last a while. Maybe I'll try a pound and see how it goes.
