Re: The REAL Varmints are at it again.............
Keep in mind guys its the white tailed Prairie Dog that is being proposed NOT the Black Tailed Prairie dog, and thats the one we're all shooting, jsut to keep things straight, I'm not saying its right That's not a lot of comfort to those of us in Utah, Idaho, SW Wyoming and western Colorado where t...

Re: Skippy's real name in your area???
The popular long-range target rodents in northern Utah come in three sizes: Small Uintah ground squirrel - http://dwrcdc.nr.utah.gov/rsgis2/Search/Display.asp?FlNm=sperarma Wyoming ground squirrel - http://dwrcdc.nr.utah.gov/rsgis2/Search/Display.asp?FlNm=sperarma (both are sometimes called "po...

Re: Is the 39gr Sierra Blitzking really the magic bullet?
The 39 gr. BK does great gymnastic work on prairie dogs, and works well on the occasional long-range coyote. My DPMS-barreled AR really likes 27.2 gr. of IMR4895 and 28.0 gr. of W748 (sub .5" with both, to a slightly different POA), but there are trade-offs with each. The 748 is much easier to ...

Re: Optic Zone
I've purchased several scopes from them over the years, without difficulty. They also went the extra mile to get me sun shades that weren't available anywhere else.

Re: Scope for a 17HMR.
I bought the BSA Sweet 17 (which the Cabela's Pine Ridge 17 is modeled after) in 2-7 when they first came out and mounted it on a Clark-converted 10-22 mag. The elevation turret adjustments were dead on with the 17HMR's drop, so with a laser rangefinder and a quick twist of the elevation turret I ha...

Re: Burris scopes
I've got two 6.5x20 FFII's with the Ballistic Mil-Dot reticle, one on a Rem 700V in 223, the other a tactical model on a 204 AR. The plain-jane model is made in Asia, while the tactical in marked "Made in USA." The bodies are of identical shape and because the turrets are more centered tha...

Re: Barnes 26gr V. Grenade
The .224's shoot great in my vintage Ruger 77V 220 Swift. I'm going to at least try the.204's when/if they make it to retailers. If not soon, a road trip to Barnes' plant may be in order so I don't miss this Spring's rodent-window-of-opportunity.

Re: My New .204 DPMS
I'd like to hear your experience with your barrel, because I got a 24" 204 DPMS barrel last fall in building another upper for my target AR (CMC trigger, ERGO grip, etc.). I found mine to be extremely accurate w/ 39gr. BlitzKing and 32gr. V-Max bullets (sub .5" @ 100 yds), but the copper f...
