Dogtowns again
I know everyone is probably sick of hearing about Dogtowns so this will be it unless I get another powder. I snoosed up my load a little and the Dogtowns didn't like it. The groups opened up to a little over an inch at 100 yds :( When I moved over to the 200 yd range I only had 3 dogtowns left so I ...

Re: IMR4198 and 40 Nosler Ballistic Tips
I looked at 4198 at one time too but couldn't find too much data on it except for lighter bullets than what you are suggesting. You might want to consider a different powder. Look around on this site and you will find powders that are used successfully. The 204 is a small case so for whatever powder...

Re: Stainless Steel Bore Brushes
CLP Break Free??? Never heard of it, is a copper solvent? I use Break Free products too. The Break Free stuff I have at home right now is the Powder Blast and the CLP cleaner and lubricant. I use the Powder Blast on my brushes. I don't think either one can be considered a copper solvent-at least ne...

Re: Having trouble with new Remington 700 VTR accuracy
If you read my posts in the reloading area of this forum regarding Midway Dog towns-those groups have been shot with a 700 VTR. I absolutely love this rifle. I admit that the stock isn't of the highest quality and I have read on another forum that someone was unable to free float his barrel but I ha...

Re: IMR 4895?
Thanks for the replies. Greystone, I'm curious what bullets/weights your shooting with the IMR. I was having some good results with BL-C until I dumped my powder trickler full of Benchmark into the full can :wall: I had a full can of IMR stored and figured I'd try some under the 39 BK and was impre...

Re: IMR 4895?
IMR 4895 is my powder of choice for both 243 and 204 but I'm out and my dealer is out. I've got the best accuracy out of my 204 with this powder. My dealer is also out of H4895. I really don't know what the difference is but they are listed a little different in the burn rate charts. I thought since...

Re: First sloppy hole!
Those are some great looking groups! I like the Bergers too. They seen to be very consistent.

Re: Look what followed us home
One time about 20 years ago I was going into work early in the morning and I came across a bloody mess in the road and I saw something run into the ditch. I stopped. There was a cardboard box sitting along the road. Someone had dumped off a whole litter of pups and they were all splattered on the hi...

Re: Midway Dogtown update
Ryan-You can get the same thing as a Dogtown from Midsouth for about 35 bucks for a 500 round pack. They're called Varmint Nightmare X-TREME. I have a 500 round box of these and the appear to be the same thing as the Dogtowns. I haven't shot any of these but did check a few and they were .204"....

Midway Dogtown update
I'm making some progress with these Dogtowns. I went out this morning at sunrise and did some shooting. Right now the only suitable primers I have available locally are Rem 7 1/2's and CCI BR-4's The groups were defiantly smaller with the CCI's. I'm still using Remington neck sized cases but this ti...

Re: Reloading kits
My reloading room also used to be a bedroom. You should see the stuff in there now!
. It's where I spend most of my time-my little hangout. I'm in there right now as a matter of fact. Dave

Re: Reloading kits
Not only what everyone has said but there is the fun aspect to it also. Shooting and reloading for me are two hobbies that perpetuate each other. Empty cases need to be reloaded and reloaded cases need to be shot
What could be better? Dave

Re: Which brass
Right now I'm working with some Remington brass. Its trimmed and neck sized. I have a Sinclair primer pocket uniformer and it works good with this brass. I also have one of their flash hole uniformers and found out that there is some substantial burrs on the inside of some of the cases. I still have...

Re: Midway Dogtowns
greystone If your in the mood try around 29.2gns of Win 748 with either Fed 205M or CCI-450's and FL sized brass. Rem 7.5's and BR4's do not seem to work. At least not my lots. 748 is most easily tuned by neck tension. Usually tighter is better but not always. Why do you mention FL sized cases? I h...

Re: Midway Dogtowns
I am working on a CHEAP solution to uniform and shrink the size of the hollow point. Will post more info soon.

I'll be interested to see what you come up with. I'm not expecting miracles with these things but they're cheap and I like to shoot. I'm gonna play around with diffe...
