Re: Prairie Dog Hunt needed.
I live in Charlotte, do travelling to VA\TN area on weekends. Looks like I'll be going by myself when I go. I've taken 51 groundhogs off one farm and wish I'd had some other places to hunt the chucks too because 51 will take its toll off a 250 acre farm. I don't mind taking a 2 hour drive on a weeke...

Prairie Dog Hunt needed.
I get tired of searching so many different websites for all the info. I'm always looking for a bargain. Can anyone advise me on who to get with, where to go, and when's best? Thanks.

Re: Trouble with 700 VLS
Try my loads listed in the reloading section, with a powder charge reduction first. Barrel break in procedure (first time I ever tried it on a gun) for me revealed a noticeable change in accuracy after 50-75 rounds. Even after I had it bedded. Note: I can't get anything up to and including a 40 grai...

Re: Bullet Drop ?
Concerning the accuracy of JBM: That's as good a place as any to start. I've checked the numbers against my field results for 7mm at 400,600 and 1,000 yds. JBM gives me 7-10% more MOA of drop than actual field results. I suspect the error is partly attributable to the drag function JBM uses. It must...

Re: 700 trigger adjustment
I should have said fingernail polish REMOVER. Anyway, I wouldn't think of changing the sear but I've got pull down to 4-6 pounds (depending on how much a 230gr 45auto cartridge weighs(2/3-1 oz). 95 of them in a plastic bag hung on the trigger will trip it. That was just for curiosity's sake. But if ...

700 trigger adjustment
Have dealt with three 700's where the sear engagement screw could not be turned. Got the other 2 turned and have a good combination accuracy + hunting trigger. If I need / am brave enough to mess with the sear screw, what will DEFINITELY break it loose so a jeweler's screwdriver can turn it. I've go...

700 VLS. It's actually almost 1 pound heavier than the other heavy barrel models (9+ pounds).

204 Recoil
I've been reading and heard testimony about how this cartridge does not move you off the target but allows you to keep your sight picture until bullet impact. They must be talking about 32gr bullets, which they always fail to mention, because my factory 40 grainers generate enough recoil (on a solid...

Got the Carbon out since I ....... !
Got the Carbon out since I found a Nylon brush. NYLON brush yields VASTLY different results. Wet patch following the brush comes out clean. I don't know what the black stuff is following a phosphor bronze brush, but Remington and someone here too thought I was having this problem.
