Re: Mounting an Elite 6500 to a Tikka

Thank you. I ended up using a set of Burris Steel mounts, low. I got the height I was hoping for, like you said, 3-5mm, I am very pleased. How are you finding the Elite 6500? I recently bought a Tikka .270 and want to fit the 2.5-16x50mm its currently got a VX1 3-9x40 which i dont think is enough. ...

Re: Camoing my gun?

I am assuming it doesn't otherwise you would be doing it, but I have to ask anyways.
Does that camo wrap, burlap or paint have any affect on the point of impact?

Re: Bushnell vs Leupold vs Nikon

I agree with the whole issue about trying the scopes outside, what looks good in artificial light may not be so good in natural light, where it will be used.
The store I bought mine at set up a small table outside and placed 4 decent scopes on it for me to try, that earned them my business.

Re: Oh no.. A cleaning question.

Excellent advice guys, thank you. I have all of that stuff except the .410 mop, I will get one tomorrow before I shoot again. So while I am at it, what is the point of a mop, I bought a couple from Dewey when I made my order, but have no idea why. I promise I wont keep these questions coming, I just...

Oh no.. A cleaning question.

I just went at my .204 for the first time, probably 300 rounds through it. Yesterday at the range I noticed my groups were still tight but dropped an inch. Got me thinking about cleaning. Thanks to you guys I have what I needed, a Dewey rod, Lucas guide, brushes, jag and patches. I also have a bottl...

Re: I am going to need some help soon..

I had to go over that list Glen, it says a RCBS O frame press.. Now, I have no idea what any of this is, I am learning slowly though. A few buddies said it was a good deal so I jumped on it. I am thinking I may need a 45-70 so I can use the stuff. :D I am having buyers remorse, I bought this stuff t...

I am going to need some help soon..

I have been tip toeing around the idea of reloading for my .204, looking at the sea of equipment out there and never really knowing where to start. Yesterday a fellow archer decided to retire his stuff and I snapped it up, I know absolutely nothing about reloading but have been doing some reading. I...

7 Grains, anything to lose sleep over?

I have had tremendous luck with the 39 Grain Blitz factory loads with my Tikka, but with supply running thin I have been forced to look elsewhere for my ammo. I have noticed I get great results from the Remington 32 grain BT, but I often wonder if they are enough to keep up with my quarry. We don't ...

Re: Ammunition woes..

I have been to all the shops within about 75 miles from my house, they all say the same thing, with a bit of room for interpretation of course. A couple days ago is when I had them call the supplier for Canada, thats when I got the story about the shortage. I may have to do it by mail, never tried t...

Ammunition woes..

After trying every ammo I could get my hands on for my .204 I ended up using Federal Premium, 39 grain Blitz King. They shoot so well from my Tikka that I really have no reason to reload. Problem is, I can't find them anymore, no shops have them and the suppliers are saying it will be a bit before t...

Re: Help me choose a rifle in .204

I can only speak for the one rifle on your list, The Tikka. I do not reload as of yet and get exactly what the company told me I would as far as accuracy, outstanding shooter!
Heavy? Oh yeah, Stainless varmint barrel is quite a load to carry.

Thank you for the well worded description, that cleared everything up.
How do you clean your chamber, is that another attachment for my cleaning arsenal?

The Lucas bore guide, help please.

I now have a 1 piece Dewey rod with accessories, and today my Lucas Bore guide came. So, a dreaded cleaning question comes next: How does this guide work? It is 2 pieces, and it it pretty obvious how it goes in, so here are my questions; 1. How far does the bore guide go in? Will it just stop at the...
