Turret Testing Today
Well, I printed some respectable loads today at 500 and 600 yards. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v16/junfan/Shooting/07_29_11%20223AI%20LR/IMG_20110729_154042.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v16/junfan/Shooting/07_29_11%20223AI%20LR/IMG_20110729_151201.jpg Either my chrono is off by about ...

OPTIMAL CHARGE WEIGHT LOAD

It has reduced my load development time and produced very forgiving, consistent and repeatable results.

Re: Flowing primers into firing pin hole...need advice
Thanks for the reply, what was the turn around time? I may wait a few months due to the rock chucks that are out now and I would like to have it back for coyotes this fall.

Flowing primers into firing pin hole...need advice
From day one my Savage 12FV rifle has allowed primers to flow into the firing pin hole giving the impression of over pressure when clearly there is none(I have tried with light to warm loads and always the same result) Is this due to a large firing pin hole, small dia firing pin or a weak spring? Wh...

Re: Seating depth question
Finally got my scope back and was able to get to the range. All loads were set to COL of 2.405 which was a 0.055 jump to the lands and 0.010 from the max mag length. The round feed well now! I pulled quite a few shots today, too much coffee I guess but just about 1 out of every group did not feel gr...

Seating depth question
I worked up some OCW loads for my 223AI and 75gr Amax bullets. I found my charge weight at 26.2 of RL15 and my seating depth at 2.455 which is .005 off the lands gave me 3050fps(just where I wanted to be). http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v16/junfan/Shooting/11-21-10%20223AI/100_2182.jpg http://img...

Vortex Customer Service
I purchased two Viper 4x12x40 scopes last year, the first one I installed and have had no issues. The second I installed on my 223AI and noticed the cross hairs were canted badly. I also lent my father my 8.5x50 binos and the factory neck strap broke and they fell on the left eye piece and bent it s...

They shoot great for me as well and are tough on squirrels and rock chucks.

Re: 223AI loads (75gr Amax and 65gr Gamekings)
I worked up some loads with H335 and the results are as follows. 30F cloudy, still 223AI 75gr Amax CCI 450 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v16/junfan/Shooting/12-27-10/75Amax_H335_223AI_12-27-10.jpg It really liked 25.1gr at .005 off the lands(the sweet spot for these bullets in my rifle) This fiv...

Good calling and bad weather
Well, I made it out again for a day of calling. The weather was cold, and had spats of snow but it was doable. On the way out of town we spotted seven in fields we did not have permission to hunt. Our first area was dry but had a pile of deer wintering on the property. I was able to get some good ph...

Homemade Predator Decoy
I saw on another site a weasel ball decoy so I tore apart a weasel ball the other day and decided to make a decoy out of the internal workings. Basically I took the top off, removed the weight attached to the motor, drilled a 1/8" hole in the bottom, installed a 1/8" rod and epoxied it in,...

Re: 223AI loads (75gr Amax and 65gr Gamekings)
Well, I made it back to the range today and despite the cold and heavy snow I am pleased with the results. It seems I found my load. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v16/junfan/Shooting/11-21-10%20223AI/100_2182.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v16/junfan/Shooting/11-21-10%20223AI/100_2179.jpg...

Re: 223AI loads (75gr Amax and 65gr Gamekings)
Here are the results of the first round of loads. I did not have any pressure signs with any of these and will do a little adjusting before next time. Temp 38-43 rain light to heavy http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v16/junfan/Shooting/11-07-10%20223AI/100_2164.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/...

223AI loads (75gr Amax and 65gr Gamekings)
I finally have my 1:9 twist .223AI back together and am looking at working up some loads with 75gr Amax and 65gr Gamekings. I have the following powders on hand H335, Varget, H4895, TAC, RL15, RL17 I hear good things about RL15 and the 75gr Amax, just looking for a good starting point. Thanks.
