Re: OCW Results, Please post

Thanks, I will be working up a load for my .223 using the targets posted. I just posted that one out of my old 30-06 to brag a little. :)

I live in K-Falls and love it here. If you don't like the outdoors then this is not the place for you.

Re: Possible head space issues

I just called the gunsmith that put the barrel on and he said the threads on the barrel looked as if they were cut a little off center. I asked what he ment and he stated that one the threads on one side of the barrel were deeper than the other......that would have been nice to know. He is retired n...

Re: Possible head space issues

Ok, I blackened the neck and taper as shown below then neck sized the case as recommended. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v16/junfan/Shooting/07-26-10%20case%20issues/100_2146.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v16/junfan/Shooting/07-26-10%20case%20issues/100_2147.jpg It appears as if I have t...

Re: OCW Results, Please post

Fred, thanks for the reply. I will be running the loads this weekend and will post pictures of the resluts. The targets are my own design and will be level at 100 yards. Here is a sample target. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v16/junfan/Shooting/07-24-10%20chucks/100_2125.jpg http://img.photobuck...

Possible head space issues

Last year I had a barrel put on my Savage 12 action chambered in .223AI and it has never shot all that well. With extensive load development, bedding and a recrowning job the best I can get it to do is a 1" average at 100 yards. I picked up a neck sizing die and ran some brass through it and fo...

OCW Results, Please post

Please post your results if you have used Dan Newberry's Optimal Charge Weight method of load development. Pictures of your groups and resoning for picking your OCW would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: Grandpa's old rifle still shoots.

I figured a picture was in order.

It still has his old school Bushnell Banner cross hair scope(no duplex here). Great rifle.

Grandpa's old rifle still shoots.

I recieved my Grandfathers 1969 push feed Model 70 30-06 that he bought new when he passed about 10 years ago. I have shot it from time to time but decided to work a load up for it and use it this fall to chase elk with. I dug up some of his load information and headed to the range. He used alot of ...

Project 22-250 AI

I am working on a project and am thinking about doing a 22-250 AI with 75gr A-max bullets for a little long range shooting/chucking. I have a 1:9 twist 26" Savage takeoff barrel from my .223 that shoots lights out to rechamber. I am in the process of getting a Savage action with accutrigger and...

Simple Predator Rifle Ballistics

I have been working on my rifle and loads for a while and have settled on a great all around setup for me. In the past I have used everything from a .243 to a 22hornet for calling with quite a bit of time spent behind a 22-250 shooting 55gr gamekings or 52gr HPBT Match bullets(a lethal and fir frien...

Re: 04-25-10 Trinity VS Skippy

Ya, it turned out pretty good. My mom gave the rifle to my dad about 40 years ago. He gave it to my daughter last year for her birthday....after I did a few modifications. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v16/junfan/Shooting/Trins%20stock/TrinitysStock007.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v16/j...

Re: 04-25-10 Trinity VS Skippy

Thanks guys, she is usually up for a few trips in the spring but with the kind of shooting we had on Sunday I am sure she will be wanting to go out more.

Ya, she shoots that thing better than my old man did....must be the pink. :)
