22-250 Rebarrel
Hello to all, it's been awhile since I posted anything. Got a Browning A-bolt 22-250 that was a great shooter, but after 5000+ rounds; the barrel has gone south! I would like to rebarrel the old gal. Problem is there is no gunsmiths, in my area that anyone has raived about. I live in Oroville,Ca. an...

Re: Optic Power Hogs
Thanks guys for your help. When I ground squirreling in the foothills of the Sacramento Valley; it gets a bit warm outside, so I know of the effect of heat on the optic picture. And when I'm out and about shooting the little varmints; I'm using an adjustable gun rest, I made for my 46-cj2a huntin ri...

Optic Power Hogs
Ok guys, what are your thoughts on the Burris 8-32x50 Black Diamond compared to the Bushnell Elite6500 4.5-30x50. I have no experience with either brand (other than low end Bushnell's a long time ago). I was researching for a replacement scope for the old 270 (the Burris BD 4-16x50) And doing the se...
Re: PD scope
Happy new year to all. I'm looking for a new scope and was wondering if anyone would give me their experience using the Burris Black Diamond brand; I'm considering the 4-16x50 with ballistic plex rect. for a hunting rifle. In that price range, I have two Leupold VXIII's and have one Nikon Monarch fo...

Re: 17 Fireball Reloading?
Got 250 cases yesterday at Huntingtons (Oroville, Ca). It was pricey, $41.60/hundred; but it beats waiting until August for Midway to get another shippment--maybe! I'll post the loading and target data ASAP. Thanks to all for your comments---Doug

17 Fireball Reloading?
Got a new 17 FB and wondered what others have used for reloading. I understand the 17mach IV data is a good starting point, but I'd like to hear from those who have reloaded the 17 FB. I read "tuck2's" recipe (19.0 gr BM/ 25gr HP) and he likes it. It appears folks are leaning toward the 25...

Re: Scope for a 17HMR.
I have not tried the Pine Ridge, but have used the Cabela's Alaskan Guide. I have the Alaskan Guide 10x42 binocs. and love them, great for eye glass wearers The A.G scopes are a good low cost scope, especially now; since they are being discontinued and replaced by the Alaskan TX line. I have the A.G...

Howa's Any Good?
I saw a used Howa 22-250 in a local gun shop. It felt good and looked good. It has a SS fluted heavy barrel / thumbhole laminated stock with a VX3 6.5-20x40/varmint recticle on top. The guy is asking $1500. Can anyone tell me about the Howa and is this a fair price.

Re: Nikon Monarch Reticles?
Thanks Rick for your commets, I did look at the earlier optic forum posts and found more info. on the Nikon BDC reticle; it's too heavy. Some folks did like the fine x hair reticle. Didn't see any commets on the nikoplex reticle. The Monarch (with fine X) just arrived today and I was surprized at ho...

Re: Optic Zone
Good experience with Optic zone; bought a Nikon Monarch 6-24x50 (very good prices on the Nikons). Shipped same day as ordered, arrived as stated and packed very well. I would not hesitate to buy from them again.

Nikon Monarch Reticles?
Looking at the 6-24x50 Nikon Monarch. I looked through a Monarch with the Fine crosshair reticle and thought the hairs were a bit too fine! Especially when scopeing a squirrel sitting in a distant shady area. Could lose sight of center crosshair in real shady situation. So has anyone had experiance ...

Re: Burris/Nikon Advice!
WrzWaldo, I stand corrected; the 204 col was 2.260. I have to agree with Rick; Leupold's warrenty and customer service is tops and I know from personal experience that Leupold's are awesome. On the other hand I'm always open to new ideas and equipment, so I thought I would see what other fellow shoo...

Burris/Nikon Advice!
Bought a new remmy 17 Fireball and need a scope. I have VX lll's on the 204 & 22-250, and thought I might try something different. Any of you guys had experience with the 6-24x50 Burris Black Diamond w/side focus and fine crosshires. And I was also looking at the Nikon Monarch with the same spec...

Shooting Rest--Which One?
Santa didn't bring me one! So I must take matters in my own hands. I want to buy a rifle shooting rest for sighting in and maybe use for bench squirrel shooting. So I see that Midway has a sale on Caldwell's Lead Sled DFT $180 or the Orginal one for $100. They are also offering the Rock BR for $140 ...
