Re: Savage LRPV not up to expectations
I also had accuracy issues with a LRPV in 204. I did all the tricks, was at about the 300 round mark and not had a group under 1". In my experience if they don't come around in 200 rounds or so something is wrong. I can actually say it was not the shooter cause I shoot its twin in 223 and if it...

Re: Ring height question
I use Burris Signature rings almost exclusively and typically get by with mediums on everything but 50mm scopes with AO. Not familiar with the Ruger American rifles but I would go with medium signatures, even with the heavier barrel.

Re: New Acquisition and Question
OT, I have the same rifle, actually my first 204. The wood on mine was very close to one side of the barrel but it still shot very good. I ended up sanding out the barrel channel on that side for cosmetics. The rifle will consistently keep three 32 Vmax over Benchmark at right around 3/8". Cold...

Re: Where are all the Tikka's in 204 Ruger.
Joe, you may be SOL. A friend was trying to get a Super Varmint in 223 after handling mine and was told they are no longer imported here! I believe he was also told they quit importing the stainless Varmint. He ended up finding a Super Varmint in 22-250 but commented that all the stainless heavy bar...

Read that they won't be available til June, don't know for sure. Sounds like a nice scope though.

Re: CZ ACTION SMOOTHING ?
I used Flitz polish on the bolt/receiver rails, worked the bolt ~100x, cleaned it off and lubed with Remoil. Now very smooth.

Re: Recovered 40gr. VMAX
Excellent post! I wondered what the 204 had left at that range on a coyote. Should have been at around 2200+ fps at that range. How did the yote react to the hit?

Some one should really try one of these 10 twist .204's! I would, but just got the 22-250!

Re: New Thompson Center Venture 1:10 Twist
The short action Ventures are just hitting the dealers around here. I have a price of $429 on the black model from the local dealer. The SA models including the Predator must have went on the TC website yesterday. I will see if i can get a price on the Predator.

New Thompson Center Venture 1:10 Twist
Do you think TC is actually using a 1:10 or is this a misprint?

Re: Getting started Reloading .204 Ruger....What Dies?
For sizing I went with a Redding Type S Full Bushing Die (.225 bushing). I set it so it sizes about 75% of the neck and just bumps the shoulder for easy chambering. For seating I use the Forster Bench Rest Seater. Uniformity is excellent with this system. Another option that i use for .223 is a Redd...

Re: CZ or savage
Between the model 16 and the 527 Varmint I would go with the 527. If you were looking for strictly a carry rifle i would suggest the 527 American. If your interest was bench i would suggest a Savage model 12. The 527 Varmint falls nicely in between, it carrys well and performs well off a bench also....

Re: Clean or dirty?
I have been working up loads for a CZ 527 Varmint Kevlar and noticed the same thing. The American i have shoots great groups after a clean so i was getting a little depressed when the Varmint wasn't turning quite as good of groups as the American. I remembered one of my .223's liked being dirty so i...
