Re: Need a load for 22-250!

My 22-250 works well with W760. H380 has also been OK.

Re: new stock & new toy (pics)

For the 45 Colt a really good load is a 250/255 cast SWC and 8.5 grains of Unique. About 900 fps in my 5 1/2" sa's and good accuracy.

Re: What would make more sense

If you're working with a dedicated target/bench rest rifle with the sole aim of ultimate accuracy, the more power the better. If you are going to use the rifle for other purposes (varmints, hunting, etc.) a variable as you specified is a more versatile choice.

Re: 270 Ruger M77 I could use some of your pet loads for deer.

Over the years I've loaded for about a half dozen different 270s. Every one of them shot well with 130 grain bullets and H4831. Usually 60.0 grains (the standard max load) works best, usually grouping about 1" (often less) at 3100+ fps. One Remington rifle worked best at 62.0. With 150 grain bu...

Re: H335

H335 has turned out to be my powder of choice in both the 204 and the 223. 27.0 in both loads - 35 Berger HP in the 204 (@4000fps), and 52 Hornady BTSP in the 223 (3400fps). Both loads have been consistent and accurate.

Re: best place for 35 grain bergers

Sinclair International sells Berger bullets - you'll have to check for prices and shipping cost, but usually reasonable.

My own experience is that Tasco optics make good paper weights, tire chocks, and tent pegs.

Re: How many times do you reload each case?

Case life varies considerably according to what you are loading and how hot you load. Something like the 45 ACP should have an a very long case life, especially using jacketed bullets so you don't have to bell the case mouth. With bottle neck rifle cases, chamber dimensions and load intensity can ca...

Re: question about reloading manuals.

Thered are so many variables involved in reloading that no single manual can allow for all of them. Bearing surface of bullets has been dealt with here, but there are many more that can change pressures: powder lot, barrel length, chamber and bore dimensions to name a few. Most manuals will state wh...

Re: A really good load BUT......

If you're getting 1/2" groups at 100 yards from a 243 you're not likely to to a lot better without spending some serious money. Short of bench rest matches, why worry about "better" than that?

Re: Difference in info??

You will find as you look through reloading data for just about any cartridge, that each source will show different max loads with the same powder and bullet weight. About all you can do is start below max and work your way up keeping a close eye on everything. Without pressure testing equipment, yo...

Powder lots and velocity

Had an interesting experience lately loading for the 204 using BL-C(2). When I switched to a different can of powder velocities went down by about 200 fps. Everything else was the same: bullets, cases, primers, even the temperature was the same on the two different days. The older can from 1999 was ...
