Re: Shooting Advice and Technique

The trigger on most Savage rifles are set at 1.5 lbs or 2 lbs from factory. Which provided that your gun is equipped with an Accutrigger, it is possible for a trigger slap but you'd have to be hitting that puppy pretty hard to get that trigger to jump off target. I have made several failed attempts ...

Re: Picture of the Coyote Killer...

thanks jlnolly! I had read that the circles in the recticle didn't afford a clover leaf grouping. But, if you're looking for the quick shot at a coyote or g-hog.

I'll keep looking but this scope is top of the list for now.

I wonder how well the recticle can be seen in low light..... :chin:

Alabama shooting

Okay. Is there something in the water? If you haven't heard, there was a shooting at an Alabama college involving staff and faculty. From what I've read, the shooter was a female faculty member. I'm interested in knowing details like CCW permit, general gun liscense, and other info of similar nature...

Nikon Coyote Special

Though this topic has been brought up before without reply, I am looking at getting one of these fairly new on market scopes. It will top a Savage 10XP Predator in .243 win (replace the Simmons that comes with the package). I'm looking at the 4.5-14x40mm. I've read some reviews that say it's difficu...

Re: Picture of the Coyote Killer...

I'm looking at getting that same scope to top my Savage 10XP in .243 (Simmons scope that came with the pkg is lacking). Some reviews that I've read indicate that it is very difficult to do initial sight in with the lack of an actual "cross" in the circles. What is your experience with this...

Re: Savage 10XP Predator pkg

I just got off the phone with the dealer who said the particular pkg he has is in the snow camo pattern with a 4-14x40mm Simmons scope. 4 round external mag with a medium contor barrel. I haven't seen the snow camo patter up close, but Savage website pic look good. If there is too much white I can p...

Re: Savage 10XP Predator pkg

I just read a thread in the Center Fire forum and a fella said that the factory scope sucks on the Predator pkgs suck wind. I will see if my dealer can get a Max1. THEN I'll have to find a good scope in my price range! I'd like to get something with more than 9x.

Re: Savage 10XP Predator pkg

Thanks for the reply Song Dog. Was the safety the typical Savage 3 postion tab on the top? The dealer priced this rig at $769 before taxes. Another dealer had a model 10 GXP3 for $689 before taxes. From what I can tell, the Predator has a heavier barrel. Plus, its already camoed. I looked at the Max...

Savage 10XP Predator pkg

Anyone have one of these or shot one? I've got a sweet deal worked out at the local shop, but I need a little more info. It will be .243 Win. Savage doesn't give any detail if it has a heavy barrel or walking barrel. I favor heavy barrels. It looks like the round will get two full rotations before l...

Re: + P ammo

Personally, I want a caliber/bullet that will knock the assailant off their feet and knock the wind/life out of them. If I had to pull my weapon, something bad is happening, and I am protecting myself. The threat needs to end NOW. So, if I have a +P round that factory states dumps 534 ft/lbs at muz...

Re: + P ammo

I heard somewhere that muzzle energy can be measured accurately up to 10' from the muzzle. How good is that information?

Re: + P ammo

Good point on the reloaded ammo! The CCW instructor for my class briefly mentioned reloading and only two hands went up, so he didn't go any farther with discussion. I checked out Gold Dot ammo. It looks pretty good to me and I'll have to pick up a couple of boxes sometime soon. I tried some Winches...

Re: + P ammo

I just found some Golden Saber +P that is suppose to put out 534 ft/lbs of muzzle energy  of course in a .45! I find all of this +P stuff interesting. Like you all have said, FMJ "ball amml" has worked, why use something different? I dunno... My accuracy with the TAP was a little off ...

Re: Home Varmint Defense

RIO: What kind of holster are you using for that Kimber? I've been looking around for a good holster for my XD when I decide on a light. But I've been holding off on the light until I find the right gun carrying device.

Any advice?

Thank you
