stock stock issues
Savage model 12 with synthetic stock. After laying in the case for a while (3 weeks) I discovered that the plastic on the forearm was touching the barrel allowing a felt and an audible vibration with every shot. Me, Southern Ohio boy with a Dremel. . . shaved off some of the plastic on the top side ...

Re: ghillies for a bowhunter
I checked out the camo store link. they had the same pics as sniperghillies.com did. . . . and the same suits. They may be a distributor for sniperghillies.com or something to that effect. I appreciate the link though.
I did find some other cool stuff on that site!

Re: ghillies for a bowhunter
My existing suit is not made of quality material that would efficiently support additional material. I've been researching this for a while and have found a plethora of different ideas and tricks. One idea that had been sugested was to make a ghillie vest to wear over the existing suit that would al...

Re: 204 heavy bullet problems
I have a model 12 Savage single shot with a 1:12 twist 26" heavy barrel. I LOVE IT :D until I shoot 32 grain vmax :wall: I sighted it in for the 40 grain vmax and when I shoot a 32gr. . . .6" high at 100yds and 2" +/- at 200yds. When shooting the 40's. . . .three shots in a dime at 10...

ghillies for a bowhunter
I do a lot of bowhunting (deer, coyote, turkey) and my leafy suit is 8 years old and very faded. It does good for hideing against a winter tree, but not so good for spring, summer, and early fall hunts. I'm getting busted in low light because my light gray bush suit "glows" in the dark. I'...

Limb Saver barrel de-resonator
Does anyone have some infor regarding the Limb Saver barrel de-resonator? Does it really work well on bull barrel rifles?
I"m shooting good with my savage, but was curious for some other wad shooters I have.
Any help would be great.

Re: overcomming BIG BORE syndrome
I have learned quite a bit off you fellas over the past years since I bought the .204.....and I haven't looked back. On Father's day, the inlaws gather at someone's house and the men folk go out back and shoot guns for close to 6 or 7 hours. Each year we bring different calibers and shoot wacky targ...

Re: overcomming BIG BORE syndrome
Yeah, I've tried some complementary talk. We has some free time and I got on Remington's website with him and we compared factory ballistics charts. I supported him in the areas where the .270 is best suited (larger game). I pulled the charts for the .17 HMR, .17 Fireball, and the .204 Ruger. We dis...

overcomming BIG BORE syndrome
I have a co-worker that shoots nothing but .270. If someone is talking with me about my .204 and the various things I've shot, he'll go out of his way to enter the conversation to bash the "little bb gun". At first I thought it was me. . . then I over heard him one day discussing guns with...

Re: Barrel life on the .204?
I have a Savage model 12 with bull barrel. On fathers day this year, at the inlaws house, we started a tradition. 25 rounds on 25 golf balls ranging from 30 to 125 yds. largest caliber was a Chek 8mm Mauser and the smallest was a 17 HMR. I busted my 25 golf balls with 25 rounds all fired consecutive...

Re: 204 Cleaning Questions
I like the Dewey rods. I found a Kleen Bore kit at the local store the other day and got it for $15. I love the 3 in 1 solution followed by Sweets #7 copper remover. Found a good jag that I like and works well. . . .clean gun. I also try to clean the rifle within 24 hours after shooting it. The best...

Re: How'd that happen?. . . . .
rick: When shooting golf balls, I noticed that there was no penetration. . . . just a point of impact (POI). As I understand it, a golf ball is designed to transfer nrg from the club to the ball. The amount of nrg applied is reflected in the distance the ball travels. However, when a high velocity a...

Re: How'd that happen?. . . . .
The 1/2 inch steel plate did not get completely perferated. The 45gr SP left a thin skin on the back side of the plate. the 40g Vmax left a good splat with a fair amount of penetration. . . even the plastic tip left a significant indentation. The 34g JHP left an note worthy impression in that hard c...

How'd that happen?. . . . .
Just when I thought I knew it all and had it all figured out. . . . Let me set the scene: 100 yds, 5-10mph diagonal cross wind, 43 degrees F, 3/16th inch thick plate of steel. same conditions with a 1/2 inch thick plate of steel. http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t52/ownlyoneshot/triopencil.jpg htt...

Re: OK, the .204 won me over, now what about a Remington 700 VTR
I'm shooting a Savage model 12 FV. . . . haven't looked back. Out of box accuracy was INSAINE ! It'll shoot 32g, 40g, 45g Hornadys (factory ammo) with 3 shot groups inside a nickel at 100yds. Out of box (30yds through the barrel, 10 sighting in scope), with a 3-9x40 Leupold Vari X II...
