Re: 204um Challenge: Let the excuses begin!
As afore mentioned my wife is all excited about the postal contest. So, when I got things ready and was shooting a few practice shots things were okay. But. . . When the real target came outta the envelope and was stapled to the shooting rack. . . . a 65lbs chunck of lead landed on my back with the ...

Re: Dog Food As Yote Bait
I read in a magizine (Predator Extreme. . .I think) that you can take a 2 or 3 gallon bucket, get some scraps from a local butcher shop, and freeze the scraps into a chum-cicle. Set it out in a remote local where you plan on hunting. As the winter sets in and natural food become scarce, the yotes wi...

Re: SUN + SQUIRRELS + BADGER = FUN WITH 204'S! (Pics)
I the course of the day, how many rounds did ya pop?
I would love to spend a day "rat plinkin' " with my 204! We don't get that kind of action round here in Ohio.
good shootin' and great pics

Re: A couple 204/groundhog vids & pics.
That was sweet! :D I showed a coworker who is a strict .270 and nothing else person. . . he was impressed with the first video of the hog in open field! He didn't believe me when I told him that the .240 was capable to drop in spot targets such as ghogs and coyotes. Now he's seeing some li...

Re: recoil eliminator
Not to get off topic, but Bunny Buster made and interesting point. The bullet is supersonic, so there will always be a crack as it move through the air. A similar conversation starter would be in regards to the amount of assistance an acoustic suppressor would offer. (maybe we should start a new thr...

Re: recoil eliminator
I started with factory Savage mod 12 rifle. 8.5 lbs Added 4.5 lbs of bar weights = 13 lbs (added to butt stock) -this reduced recoil by over 50% And for the Forum Challenge, I added an undetermined amount of weight in addition to the bar weight. Added #6 lead shot. Recoil was eliminated anothe...

Re: Texa$ Hunting Licen$e
BUT. . . .in Ohio If you are a property owner you do not have to purchase a hunting license or tags for deer. (I don't hunt birds) As for myself, I have my property = no tag required my parents property = no tags required my grandparents property = no tags required I do by a license and a tag to hun...

Re: recoil eliminator
I shoot at the family's range. Each of us has either a 100, 200, or 300 yd range set up to work with. I have found that, through my experience, its often safer to throttle a family member than to chastise a stranger. I do not have much public range experience. What I do have is with a couple of &quo...

Re: recoil eliminator
Baba brings up a good point. When I first began shooting, a .22 lr was the tool. Then Dad moved me to a .410, 20ga, and .243. Then this year I bought my first 12 ga turkey gun (Rem Wingmaster 28" vent barrel full choke). I have been spoiled by the near zero recoil and light trigger of the .204....

Got the card in Southern Ohio !! Thanks skipper ! This will be fun! I even got the wife excited about the competetion. She started making her own card and targets last night!! She's mean with a .22lr so I'm almost afraid to see her with my tack driver .204!!!! :cheer: We'll begin training this time....

Re: Dog Food As Yote Bait
I spoke with the local game warden who gave me permission to remove car struck deer from the road. I take bambi to the woodline and tie him down (twist in dog tie out stakes work good if the soil is soft. hard soil I use a tree or other permanent structure). I then set up a couple hundred yards away...

Re: recoil eliminator
The reason I'm asking, is a shootin' buddy just put one on his AR and loves the fact that he can single handly fire the rifle and not experience uncomfortable recoil. Then he took off his ear mufflers. He pestered me to get one on my savage mod 12. After a lengthy explanation of how I don't need a a...

recoil eliminator
curiosity :chin: I've recently read some comments on recoil eliminators/compensators/flash suppressors that on most rifles they do their job in the displacement of the barrel gasses and controling muzzle jump. However, the side effects could be as bad as improved accuracy (possible rezero when remov...

Re: stock stock issues
I appreciate the help :D The 204 is the only firearm that I have that is kept in a case. I'll post some pics some time. Hand made red cedar. . . I do keep several packets of desicant in the case. I do know what you mean jo191145 about the foam discoloring and breaking down. That happened to a shotgu...
