Red light quest
I'm in need of a great! red light that I can use on the stand by myself with either a rifle or shotgun. I've looked at several different configs and trying to carry a 12v battery around the field all day and into the night would pose a problem (it seems to me). Need some help. I've got a fella calli...

Re: Hornady XTP
I ordered from Natchez. Received the 45 gr soft points. Sent them back. Received them a second time. I checked into a couple more online ordering pages. . . .same results. I'm calling Hornady tomorrow to see what they can do for me. I know it may cost more, but since everyone else is having problems...

Re: The Coyote have disapeared!
I've been seeing more in broad daylight around here. Two of em came in just before Ohio gun week. Unfortunately, I had my bow and poppin a shot at 50 yds with my little PSE Bruin through the trees was not an option. The male / femail couple hung in the field hunting mice and rabbits for over an hour...

Re: Is the 204 enough as a full time coyote gun.
I have a Savage mod 12 with a pillared tupperware stock. From factory, the rifle weights 8.5 lbs. I cranked it up with a Lupy scope and added some weight (14 lbs total now) which dropped the felt recoil from 3.5 - 4 ft/lbs to 2 ft/lbs. This is effective for bench. The weight is removable in small am...

Re: Camoing my gun?
You need to decide how much time and money you wish to invest. Either way, you can get a good camo job accomplished. One way is to send the gun off to a pro for a camo dip. A few hundred dollars. (There are some fellas on this site have done this and can tell ya more) Another way (most popular) is t...

Hornady XTP
Has anyone used the Hornady 45gr XTP rounds on coyotes? Natchezss.com had them on sale for $15.99 a box o' 20 with $13 sum odd in shipping. I ordered one box (should've got 2) and when they arrive I'll give 'em a test. But if anyone has already plinked a few, please let me know about their traits. I...

Re: Outdoor Life magizine
The Recoil Energy is measured in ft-lbs My rifle kicks out some nasty recoil around 2.3 ft-lbs My specs: Wp=24.5 grains (estimated maybe a little too light) Wb=40 grain Vmax Vb=3900 fps (Hornady specs) Wg=14.4 lbs Actual specs without the additional gun weight (factory weight with scope): Wp=28 grai...

Outdoor Life magizine
If ya get the chance, Outdoor Life mag in the October issue, has a cool chart and formula to calculate recoil. First you must calculate the backward velocity of the gun: [(1.75 x Wp) + Wb] x Vb ____________________ = Vg 7,000 x Wg Wp= Weight of powder charge in grains Wb= Weight of bullet in grains ...

Re: Murphy's law
I have 160 rnds through my Savage mod 12 with no "factory flyers". When I don't do something correctly, I know it the second my finger touches that trigger. I know something is amiss and I have to stand up and/or regain control of my breathing. My barrel doen't like the 32 vmax. .. . it lo...

Re: so called gun magazines
I've spoke before about the big bore -a-holic that I work with and his narrow minded view of anything smaller than a .270 Win. I subscribe to Predator Extreme, and have been pleased with the mag so far. One thing that I like is the emphasis on pneumatic rifles. My coworker picked up an issue the oth...

Re: so called gun magazines
When I began researching the .204 I bought up several gun mags and did some internet research. I talked to a couple of competition shootin' buddies of mine who shoot space guns and Tubbs guns and all of that. They all said that the .204 was a limited caliber with a 100% effective range on small coyo...

Re: How to improve my groups
I too have a "tupperware stock" that has been giving me fits. I got some good advise from some posters: silverfox, acolco, and glen. With factory stock I was 1/2" groups (holes were 1/2" apart) at 100yds off Harris bipod and a sandbag. I then added bar weight to the butt until th...
