Need a new rifle
Okay fellas. Looking for a 25.06 (maybe .243) heavy barrel for coyote to deer. Average shots to be taken from 100 to 400 yds in all sorts of weather. Will be matched with a Nikon or Leupy 6-18x40's. Bullets will range from light loads (coyote) to heavier loads (deer) all factory ammo (haven't got th...

Re: need some face cover
That's a pretty sweet set up your boy has there! :D Out here we have a lot of green in the spring through the early fall. As soon as I get the chance I'll have to post some pics with my suit. My ghillie needs some more brown in it for where I'll be at specifically, but for now it's awesome. . . .pro...

Re: Might be considered varmint hunting
I heard about this issue on the radio the other day. The announcer made it sound like they were gonna let anyone with at least one tooth and a quarter of a brain fly around Texas with a.. dare I say it. . . "gun" evil things, guns are soo bad! (sarcasm) They made it sound like there ...

Re: Cold Coyote Calling - Advise Please
Me and my coworker. . . Mongo. . . had this discussion a few years ago regarding deer. He pees in a bottle, while I prefer to let it all hang out. I've shot as many deer as he has. In fact, when I was in the Boy Scouts sum years back, we were out at Philmont hiking the upper 40. We were instructed t...

Re: No yotes
Turkey Season nuf said Now, I don't want the wife to know, but spring season is a dead time for turkeys at the farm. But, Its the best time for yotes. 2008 spring season a buddy of mine (who had never been turkey or coyote hunting) was persuaded to go with me. He's nearly albino, so he spent a good ...

Re: 45 grain soft points for yotes!
I like 'em cause I know that they will crush bone. In some cases, I've had a head shot that would've put the lighter rounds out of the ring. That 45 gr busted right through the skull, or shoulder.

Re: New Bullets
My mod 12 Savage is a 1:12 twist. It loves the 40 gr Vmax and likes the 45 gr SP. The lighter rounds don't seem to do as well with my barrel.

Re: Help- Big dog problems
I have been in you shoes cshooter. I had a monster chow running my farm. I went through the whole process without success. I opted for a load of .22 lr bird shot. After receiving a load in "gentle places" he thought it best to leave. If you make contact with the police and dog warden then ...

Stevens 322a
A buddy has a Stevens 322a in 22 hornet. He's wanting to use it for coyote hunting with me, but I'm not familiar with this caliber. I know of it, but not about it and what is can do. I would imagine that it'll function fine for coyotes. . . He's having difficulty matching the rifle to a good set of ...

Re: Is the 204 enough as a full time coyote gun.
Here's a pic of 2 inch thick lexan plastic. A college buddy works for a gov research facilty that was using lexan in some tests. He sent me some chuncks to through lead at. I beat some pieces with a ball bat with little damage visible. Others, like the one in the pic was filled with holes. Nothing b...

Re: Is the 204 enough as a full time coyote gun.
I shoot the Vmax 40 gr Horns and occasionally the 45 gr SP Horns. Never had a problem. Some people have had issues with the "accuracy" of the 40 grainers. . . . my accuracy is 3 shots inside a nickel at 100 yds and 3 shots inside a silver dollar at 200 yds with a 3-9x40 lupy scope. In the ...

Guess what. . . . ? . . . . ? They currently do not manufacture the 45 grain XTP in the .204 ruger c...

Re: Red light quest
Glen: Thanks for the web link! That was awesome! Good posting! I've looked at the Surefire line. . some. The current leader for the read lights that I've been considering is the Primos Nightblaster with the 6v rechargable battery in a carry bag. I have reservations due to the fact that I can't find ...
