I hunted with a fella who could shoot pop caps at 300+ yds but quite often missed turkeys with a 12 gauge at 30yds.

Re: + P ammo
Rick, Sometimes the best way to learn things is by making silly suggestions. Thank you for settling the staggered ammo issue. Me and co-worker (same one who thinks that there are no other rifle calibers other than .270) had been "discussing" wether or not staggering different mfg's, grain ...

Re: Springfield XD
Thank you Jim ! I do have some match .45 all lead target rounds that I OCCASIONALLY shoot through my 1911. I only shoot them once a year cause it loves to eat them, and the fouling from the lead rounds love to hang out in the barrel making cleaning a chore. I'll only be shootin' ball ammo for plinki...
+ P ammo
Not many lead tossers are stamped with the +P but I'd like to get a box of the Hornady TAP ammo. I have been told by some that the TAP ammo should not be fired through either my Springfield 1911A1 stainless Mil-Spec or my new XD Service 45. I've already ordered two boxes from Midway. What are the do...

Re: Springfield XD
Bought the new XD service today!! I am so excited! The only problem now is finding ammo.  Noone has any #$$%$^ ammo for sale. . . .and some of the online stores are backorder on their most popular lines. Thank you Obama, Pelosi, and those nimrods who think that knives, hammers, and ball b...

Re: Springfield XD
The things I liked about the XD was the weight for one, the balance for two, and .45 for three, and finally the price $570. Another I had looked at was the Colt Defender with an extended mag so my pinkie doesn't hang off the grip. Again, .45 with little weight and $560. I'd like to find a good 1911 ...

Springfield XD
Noone yet has said much about the XD. I'm currently looking at the "standard" size for CC. I currently have a Springfield 1911 Stainless Mil-Spec which not only kicks the butt of the would be bad guy, but also can be used to pound nails, prop up car jacks, throw at stray dogs, and when pol...

Re: Carry handgun for calling predators in case a cougar attacks
I have been currently looking for a Con. Carry gun. . . XD is on the books as a top contender.... I currently have a Mil spec 1911A1 Stainless from Springfield with some slight mods.... I have heard all sorts of stories regarding all sorts of calibers and which one is better. My 2 pennies: College b...

Re: Be careful out there.....accidents happen.
the blind I have has a few orange flags attached to it that ya deploy when ya enter.
That orange flag ain't a bad idea. I'll work on it a bit and see what I can come up with.
Thanks Glen

Re: 17M2 Info...
Skip both 17's and get a .204 :chin:  :D It'll do the 100yd dash and light a candle at 300+ witha steady hand and good scope. Report and recoil with most 17's I've shot are a little less than the 204, but ya get more punch with the larger caliber at longer range. IMHO My nephew has a 17HMR in ...

Re: Need a new rifle
Sweet pics! Got lookin' a Rock River site. Got shocked when the drool hit the keyboard. Maybe I otta get a rig in both calibers.. . . :chin: something like a Thompson Center with swappable barrels. . . . Then I could shoot a 243 or a 25-06 depending on my mood and location of shooting! ...

Re: need some face cover
got the mask in the mail today. will be working on things this weekend and will post pics next week some time. RIO: I noticed in the photo of your son that the barrel on his rifle looks short. What rig is he using? It would do well in a blind or in brush. . . kinda like where he's at in the photo. e...

Re: Be careful out there.....accidents happen.
I have had some odd things happen while hunting, but accidents are always on my mind since I hunt alone. My wife and mother worry about me all the time due to the amount of serious poachers we have that roam around the 150 acres that I hunt. I've run into a few of them. . . My biggest fear is sittin...

Re: Need a new rifle
Yep. They'll do for what I'm looking for. I too had looked again at the Savage main website few minutes ago and found the .243 in the same make and model as my .204. I like that consistency.. . .but I don't like the stock. I've been looking a Bell and Carlson for the 204, but the 243 may get the upg...

Re: need some face cover
RIO: I found a ghillie mask with same colors as my suit, the mask resembles that of the one your son is sporting in the photo. Its a build it yourself kit and the ad states that there should be enough material left over to construct a rifle cover too. :D $15 from sniperghillies.com plus $18 sum odd ...
