Re: + P ammo
RIO: I tested a few rounds through the 1911 and they worked like advertised. When shot in the dark, the muzzle flash was near non-existant and recoil was super light. I agree that "regular" defense ammo is sufficient enough to handle the encounters that might occur in our every day. I wond...

Re: 45 GAP - opinions?
I just got my boxes of +P ammo today and fired 5 rounds to see the feed. The advertisement is correct:
In dark, I saw no vision imparing flash.
Recoil was like that of a 22lr.
But, I only hit my target 2 of 5 rounds. Could've been me.
I love the variety available in 45ACP.

I have a 1911A1 Springfield stainless in 45ACP and an XD Service in the same caliber. One the nightstand gun and the other is the carry piece. :club:  I purchased 2 boxes of Hornady TAP ammo before I heard about the extra punch that those rounds issue to the firearm. I spoke briefly with Spring...

Re: Another win for us...
As a federal employee, and a Concealed Carrying citizen, I am very pleased that I can now legally carry my personal defensive weapon while hiking the state trails with the family and not have to worry too much about the credit card companies jacking me around. I only hope things go well and noone ma...

Re: 45 GAP - opinions?
When I go to the store, all I see is GAP ammo. At first I thought it might be a fresh shipment....but when I saw an empty shelf for the 45 ACP, my thinking changed. One day I asked the fella behind the counter what he thought was the best in house, close quarter, defensive caliber that he would bet ...

Re: finally ! a couple of ghillie pics
yeah fellas. a "bow gun" is a cross bow. most guys around here prefer the traditional longbow or a compound. Due to the obvious complications of using a compound bow with a suit made of shag.... :chin:  I use a cross bow with the ghillie and a compound with the leafy suit. Both the c...

Re: finally ! a couple of ghillie pics
Thank you. Finding the right suit was long and time consuming. Taking the pictures was kinda fun actually. Jim was tinkering with the settings on the camera and I told him I was gonna go over to the tree line and get set. When Jim looked up I was gone. He was about 60 yds or so away. As he slowly ma...

finally ! a couple of ghillie pics
I've been MIA for a while with layoffs from work and all. . . . but I finally got around to getting a couple of pics in my ghillie suit with my Savage mod 12 in 204. She has a small amount of ghillie shag on the barrel and scope. I haven't got to try this new rig on the coyotes yet. . . . I know the...

Re: New Gunowner Fubar
Any anti-gunners out there who want another reason to gain control of all firearms and let the goverment decide who has the P r o p e r T r a i n i n g to shoot a handgun. I understand a learning curve on most things, but that normally applies to horseshoes and baseball. Firearms. . . . that learnin...

Ultramax Ammunition
Has anyone shot this ammo? It's a factory reloaded ammunition from what I can see. Speer, Federal, Hornady, etc. brass with JHP bullets 230 gr. I picked up 3 boxes of .45 ACP for $31 dollars a box. It's the only 45 cal ammo I've been able to find in a 4 county area of southern Ohio.  :D O...

Re: Concealed Carry on Campuses
I've been teaching at a 2 year university in southern Ohio for 7 years. In that time, I have taken classes on field trips out to state parks and preserves (Env. Science, Physical Geology) where poachers and other shady people were encountered on the trail. Under college protocol, I am not permitted ...

Re: Springfield XD
Springfield tech told me today that there is no definitive poundage rating for the factory recoil springs on the XD. There are aftermarket spring systems available, but of course the use of such items was discouraged as the warranty may be violated.
Re: + P ammo
Finally got through to Springfield techs today. I was told that the 1911 stainless could handle the OCCASIONAL one time in a great while TAP+P ammo. The XD should not receive such a punishment. I was told that if no other ammo was available, the XD could administer a couple of rounds without serious...
