Re: Need a backup rifle.....any suggestions?
Maybe I got hold of a bad one, but the Howa in .204 Ruger shot terrible. I shot hand loads and factory. The best group was with factory, .92. Other than the accuracy, the Howa is a fine rifle, very well made. Traded the thing on a Savage 12 FV which shoots 1/2" groups consisently. Best so far i...

Re: sierra 39 bk's .204
Silverfox, What brand of rifle are you shooting? I'm working up loads with H4895 for a Savage 12 FV. So far the 10X loads have been pretty tight.

Re: RCBS precision mic gauge
ulen mn, I have found the same to be true with my Savage 12 Fv. It is below the 0 by .002. Had a Howa and it was below 0 also. This is with brass fired from each rifle. I wonder if the data on the mic may be off. Or there are alot of tight chambers out there.

Berger 35 load data
I haven't seen much data on this bullet. Just added a favorite to the list, impressed with the results, .31. The charge, 24.5 10x is over what Berger list in their data. Their data seems to be rather conservative. I'm looking forward to trying the 40 gr. Anyone got some good recipies for the 35 and ...

Dogtown bullets
I have ordered a box from Midway. How accurate are these bullets? I assume they should shoot real well since they are produced by Nosler.
Which powders seen to be the most accurate?

case oal ?
I can't find any info on max case oal. Only found total cartridge oal and trim to length 1.84. What have you all found to be max before you trim?
I'm using new Rem brass that I've loaded once. Running between 1.848 and 1.854
Thanks

Re: opinion on Howa
Thanks for the responses. The Howa .204 is a very nice rifle, fit & finish, bolt smoothness. The first 35 rounds fired were not very impressive. I hope this will improve as it gets shot-in. Handloads were 27.1 of IMR 4895 with the 39 bk, about 2". The Factory 32 gr Rem accutip was .90 (best...

Re: Which bore guide
Thanks for the tips. I put the Stoney Point on a belt sander and it fits like a glove now. This should suffice until I can get one custom made.

Which bore guide
My Hogue/Howa .204 arrived yesterday. The Dewey bore guide .17-.22 will not fit. The collar is to big to fit in the back of the receiver. Anyone have a suggestion?
TheStoney Point is also too big.

IMR 4895 vs H4895
I have about 4 lbs of IMR 4895 that was bought several years ago loading for my Garand. How does this compare to H 4895 loading for .204 Ruger? They seem very close according to the data I've seen on the 204. Anyone found a good load using IMR 4895?

Re: opinion on Howa
Well gang, from what I've read here and other forums, I'm sold on the Howa, 1500 Howa/Hogue. I ordered one today. It will be topped with a Weaver V-16 scope. The .204 Ruger sounds like a very accurate cartridge in just about any rifle. I feel certain that I will be able to handload some accurate rou...

opinion on Howa
Greetings, New to the forum and the .204 Ruger. I need to fill the void. Currently shooting the .17 HMR and .223, but the .204 sounds very promising for yotes. The Howa Hogue is getting alot of good feedback in the accuracy dept. Can anyone comment on their experience with this rifle? How does it co...
