Re: 204um Challenge: Let the excuses begin!
No excuses here. Just didn't do the rifle justice. The funny part is after shooing the target I tried some new loads and found a new load that put 5 shots in one hole. How many of you think target panic has a role in shooting the target?

Re: How many times do you reload each case?
I have reloaded up to 14 times on my winchester brass so far. I started with twenty cases and am down to fifteen now. Had to discard some due to cracks in the neck, one cracked on the first reloading. All the primer pockets are still tight as well.

Re: How to fine tune a load?
YoteSmoker, I would say 95% of my shooting will be on the bench. Would love to shoot some prarie dogs but we don't have them here. Maybe an occasional groundhog. If the weather improves I'll get out to try some different seating depths. jo191145, funny that you mention the forend stabilizer. I just ...

Re: How to fine tune a load?
rayfromtx, Thanks for your input. The group on the lime green paper was the first group with that load. I was extremely happy with that so I loaded up the same thing and shot the group on the blue paper the following week. Notice at the bottom it says six shots the one to the right was first shot fr...

Re: How to fine tune a load?
Didn't mean to mislead you guys and should have been more specific. The load I'm using now is like I said new. I only have three 5 shot groups to go by. I shouldn't of posted numbers, I'm not trying to be one of the "it will shoot 2s all day long" guys. I have the utmost respect for those ...

Re: How to fine tune a load?
I'm shooting a factory savage lrpv with a t36. It does have a sav-2 trigger set to 8oz. I'm shooting off a cowan front rest with protektor bags. Using ww brass, neck sizing only with lee collet die, and using a redding body die when headspace needs bumped. I'm checking concentricity with sinclairs d...

How to fine tune a load?
I have finally found a load that is shooting in the 3's consistantly. I'm looking to try to shrink the groups a little more. I'm already uniforming pockets, deburing flashole, checking concentricity, etc.. I'm wondering if turning the necks would help. I haven't tried seating at different lengths ye...

Re: Runout gauge
I'll put in another vote for the Sinclair one. I just got the one with the digital fowler gauge. The only other gauge I've used is the RCBS case master and I prefer the Sinclair.

Re: Problem load
I guess I'm low tech.... I clean my brass with 0000 steel wool for now. I guess I'll never know why it happened.

Re: Problem load
Grayfox, I use a lee hand primer so I doubt I crushed the primer. I have yet to full length size or body size my brass yet I have only used the lee collet die. The primer had a solid strike just like the other rounds that did fire. I should clarify that when I said I found powder in the case and bar...

Re: Problem load
The brass was on its fourth loading, neck sized only. I followed up the 25grains of Varget with a group of 25.4grains and had no problems. Unless someone has any other ideas I think I'm going to just consider it a fluke.

Problem load
I went to the range tonight to test some loads in my Savage LRPV .204 On the fourth shot I experienced a proplem. I was testing my reloads that consist of Win brass, cci br4 primers, 25gr Varget, and 39gr sierra bk. With the pull of the trigger I experienced a non existant recoil and the crack of th...

I bought one of their Clearidge scopes. Shipping was extremely fast. I would order from them again.
