Re: new gun, proper barrel break-in ?

Guys, I'm just a little slow here, because I've never used a bore guide. Ahhh, how do they work ? I have one day this week to get this done and was wondering if there was some other way I could get it done with what I have untill I get one ? It will be a few weeks before I get to shoot it if I don't...

new gun, proper barrel break-in ?

Hey guys, I've got on order, a New Savage Preditor in 204, coming in this week. And I need to know how to properly break-in the barrel. I've read the advise from Savage and Winchester on the steps to proper barrel break-in, so I have an idea how and why it's needed. But I'd like to hear from some ex...

204 Ruger MK11

I got a Ruger MK II a year old in 204 that does'nt fit my long arms. It's a sporter 24" barrel. Has Timney trigger & stock has been forarm bedded. Have the load recipe it likes if interested. $400 firm.

Savage Preditor or Modle 25 sporter ?

Just wondering if anybody has found a Savage modle 25 in 204 yet ? If so, is it a varminter or a sporter ? How does it shoot ? I read where the Accu-Trigger only goes down to 2 1/2 pounds on the 25, but the modle 12 and 10 Preditor Hunter - adjust down to 1 1/2 pounds. Maybe the modle 25 is'nt desig...

got a different rifle ...... lots of difference!

Hi fella's, Been real busy around the farm and at work, so I have'nt posted lately. Just wanted to say I picked up a Savage VLP in 204 a while back and love it ! I'm going to get rid of that Ruger 77 204. No compareson as far as I'm concerned. The Savage is so much more consistantly accurate it's no...

Re: another 221 fireball question

Tuck, thanks for the info. I shoot the 40 gr. v-max too, but with 11.3 gr of IMR 4227 and Win. small pistol primers. Really good load in that little Ruger. Seems like to me the 17 fireball is sort of like a Hornet, only with a little more killing range. On your 17 fireball, what is your group size w...

another 221 fireball question

Just wondering again, been doing some reserch on the fireball. How is the report ? I have a Ruger 77/22 Hornet and it's not only a tack driver out to around 130 yrds or so, but it does'nt make alot of noise either. Compared to say, a 223, how noisy is the 221 Fireball ? How would it compare to the H...

Re: Forster bump neck sizer Die

Question, again, if I may. :) If I bump the shoulder back on the case just a wee bit, won't that cause the body to swell some too ? And cause the cartridge to chamber hard, or is that not a problem ? I assume that how I would go about it is to bump the shoulder back with one die then switch to my Le...

Re: tight cases.......

OOPS ! I guess I should have read Scootertrash's advise a little closer. Sorry. I guess you DO F/L the case in order to bump the shoulder's back a bit. There's really no way to run the case through a F/L die deep enough to touch the shoulder - without sizeing the neck fully and changeing the ...

Re: tight cases.......

Rick, I am trying to think here, bumping the shoulders back a tad with a full length die, - won't that full length resize the case ? Or is there something I'm missing ? Do I need to take something out or change the setting on the F/L die to keep from looseing my chamber's dimentions on the fired cas...
