Re: Savage VLP First time
My Savage VLP really likes the 39 gr Sierra's. I use 25 gr of RE-10x, WSR primers and Win brass. I have Weaver two piece mounts on a one piece Leopold base. If I clean the rifle every 15 - 20 rnds or so, I can keep 5 shots in an inch at 200 yrd. My COL is 2.955" at the ogive of the bullet. Ever...

Re: Primers Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Went to a gun show yesterday and found 1000 wsr's, on a table, after I was done the dealer pulled out another 1000 from under the table. Some other guy saw him do it and ran up to him and said he'd take all the rest that he had under the table. He walked away with about 12000 primers ! People are ge...

Re: CZ or savage
I have 8 Savage rifles, two are in 204, and have had excellent luck with them. They are the most accurate rifle, right out of the box, of all the brands I've been around. I've had other brands that were accurate too, but I had to work on them to get it. If you shoot like me, you need all the help yo...

Re: Help- Big dog problems
Well, fella's, I did'nt mean for this issue to become such a big debate. I can see that there are some greatly differing opinons out there. So maybe I should not of said anything. I did find out that there is a county leash law here. I will have to check into it further, but from what I understand, ...

Re: Help- Big dog problems
I'm still hopeing to resolve this problem. I think the guy understands, his wife on the other hand is a different story. I'm confident that he will either tie the dog up or get rid of him. But I'll give it a little longer and then call the sherriff if happens again. I guess I can't really blame the ...

Help- Big dog problems
A neigbor down the road from me has a BIG st. bernard dog. He probably weighs at least 150 pounds. He has been warned to keep the dog tied up because he's been chaseing my cattle. I think the next time the dog does it , he won't go home again. I was wanting an opinion on wether the 204 would be enou...

good bullet for hogs ?
Me and a buddy have 270 winchesters and was wondering about what kind of bullet would be good for hogs in this caliber ? He is leaning towards a heavier 150 gr Interbond, or 140 gr Accubond type bullet. I'm thinking a 130 gr Partion would be fine. A buddy at work said he uses plain ol Remington 150 ...

flash holes
Fellas, I have never worked on the flash holes on any of my cases for any of my rifles. The accuracy, especially in my 22 Hornet, 223, 204, and 270 Win, was always excellent. My 22-250, 222, and 243 were never real good, but good enough for what I used them for. I just neck sized the case, trimmed t...

Re: David Spade donates money for Guns
Tom Selleck is a good one. A few years ago Rosey O'Donnel had it out with him over guns, on her show. Tom was a gentleman about it, but let Old Rosey know how he felt about his gun rights.

Re: Faulty RUGER
I have had fairly good luck with 4 of the 5 Rugers I owned, but one, a standard MK II in 204. I never could get that stupid thing to hit the same place everytime I shot it. All my other Rugers were fine. Never could figure out the problem, so I sold it. I have as many Savage rifles and they have all...

Re: new brass - off center flsh holes - Problem ?
I reloaded a couple dozen rounds out of one bag and the accuracy seemed to be as good as my older reloads of the same load, with the exception of one flyer. So I don't think they will hurt much, I hope, but I'm not going to open the other bags untill I get ahold of Winchester Olin corp and see if th...

new brass - off center flsh holes - Problem ?
I just got a few hundred new Winchester 204 brass and noticed some of the flash holes were off center in the primer pocket. Seems like around half the bunch is this way. Maybe I just never looked close enough to see it before. Will this adversly affect accuracy ? And if so what can I do about it oth...

Re: Need a new 204
My Savage Predator in 204 hits exactly the same with the same load as my Savage modle 12 VLP at the same ranges. The poly stock keeps the weight down, and the all camo makes it almost invisible to the coyotes I've shot. I have to be careful not to lean it up against a tree or bush bcause I'm lible t...

RE-10x
I've heard that RE-10x is not the same powder it was when it came out, that some guys were haveing to adjust loads from different ages of powder. My rifle really seems to like RE-10x but I'm about out of the couple pounds I got a couple years ago and was wondering if I bought a few more pounds of ne...

Re: new gun, proper barrel break-in ?
I'll get a bore guide comming from Mr. Lucas as soon as possible, hopefully tomorrow. And it looks like Wendsday is the only time I'll have for a month to shoot my new rifle because of harvest and my job. I'll use the Hopp's #9 untill the patches come out clean and as dry as a new patch, then use th...
